Medical Description
Met XL 50 tablet is a medicine commonly prescribed to manage high blood pressure and heart-related problems such as angina (chest pain) and heart failure. It contains metoprolol, a beta-blocker that helps the heart work more efficiently by relaxing blood vessels and reducing strain on the heart. By lowering blood pressure, Met XL 50 also helps prevent complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.
Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Met XL 50 tablet based on your condition. It should always be taken exactly as advised, usually at the same time each day, to get the maximum benefit. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly on your own, as it may worsen your condition or cause unwanted heart-related problems.
There are other medicines available with the same active ingredient metoprolol, such as Seloken XL 50 tablet, Starpress XL 50 tablet, Metocard XL 50 tablet, Metpure XL 50 tablet and Revolo XL 50 tablet. While they all work in a similar way, you should use only the one prescribed by your doctor, as brands may differ in their release pattern or dosage form.
Met XL 50 tablet is generally not recommended for children under 18 years of age. If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding, make sure to inform your doctor before starting the medicine. This is important because your doctor may adjust your dose or monitor you more closely depending on your health condition.
Always inform your doctor about your complete medical history, including all medications and supplements you are currently taking, to avoid potential harmful interactions. Along with medication, lifestyle changes such as a healthy diet, exercise, avoiding smoking, and limiting alcohol are equally important for keeping your heart healthy and blood pressure under control.
