Pan 40 tablet is an acid-reducing medicine. It is used to treat stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other acidity related problems. This tablet works by reducing the production of stomach acid. This tablet contains pantoprazole as an active ingredient. It works best when taken on an empty stomach. Take Pan 40 tablet as advised by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. You should also be watchful for which are the foods and beverages that seem to induce acidity related problems, try to consume smaller and more frequent meals, avoid consumption of alcohol and drink plenty of water. Uses of Pan 40 MG
- Pan 40 tablet is used to treat ulcers in the stomach or intestine.
- For the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a tumor in the pancreas, which causes oversecretion of stomach acids.
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD, characterised by symptoms like heartburn and chest pain right after eating).

- If you are allergic to pantoprazole or other ingredients of the Pan 40 tablet.
- If you are allergic to similar medicines like omeprazole, etc.
- If you are currently taking anti-HIV medications like rilpivirine or atazanavir.

- You are supposed to take a blood test (Chromogranin A).
- You are using the medicine for the long term.
- You have liver-related problems, in the case of increased liver enzymes, the treatment must be stopped.
- Avoid using for children below the age of 12 years.

Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines affect the way the Pan 40 tablet works or the medicine itself reduces the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform the physician about the medicines, supplements or herbals you are taking or might take to avoid possible interaction.
- Pan 40 tablets alter the action of medicines whose bioavailability is dependent on stomach acid like ketoconazole.
- The medicine must not be co-administered with atazanavir, an anti-HIV medicine and methotrexate, an immunomodulator.
- Frequent monitoring of blood clotting parameters is required if you are taking blood thinners like warfarin. There is a risk of bleeding.
- Levels of methotrexate (used to treat types of cancer) increases in the body upon concomitant use with Pan 40 tablet.

Avoid excessive consumption of coffee, tea, chocolate, alcohol and cola.
