Medical Description

Nexpro RD 40 capsule is a medication used to treat a condition called acid reflux, where acid from the stomach moves up into the oesophagus. This can cause symptoms like heartburn, nausea, burping, and chest discomfort. It helps alleviate these symptoms, allowing you to feel more comfortable during the day and while sleeping.

This capsule contains two active ingredients: esomeprazole and domperidone. Esomeprazole reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes, while domperidone helps move food through your digestive system more smoothly. Together, they help stop the acid from coming back up into your throat.

You should take Nexpro RD 40 exactly as your doctor instructs you. It works best when taken on an empty stomach, about 30 minutes before breakfast. Try to take it at the same time each day so your body gets a steady amount of the medicine.

Other similar medicines contain the same ingredients, such as Esmetru D capsule, Esogress D 40mg capsule, Raciper D capsule, and Es Omepraz Dsr capsule. But don’t switch between them unless your doctor tells you to, as the doses and effects can vary slightly.

In addition to taking your medication, it’s essential to maintain healthy eating habits. Do not skip meals and try to eat small, frequent meals throughout the day. Avoid spicy, oily foods, caffeine, soft drinks, alcohol, and smoking. Also, try not to eat right before going to bed. These lifestyle tips, combined with your medication, can significantly help reduce acid reflux symptoms.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

  • Nexpro RD 40 mg capsule is a combination of two components - Esomeprazole and Domperidone and it works via combined action of these components.
  • Esomeprazole belongs to the class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. The lining of the stomach secretes acid by certain processes that involve the intake of ions via proton pumps in the cells. Esomeprazole reduces the intake of the ions in the stomach cells that are necessary for the production of digestive acids in the stomach and hence leads to reduced acid production.
  • Domperidone acts by increasing the motility of the stomach and intestines so that acid does not reflux back into the food pipe.
