Medical Description
Pantocid 40 tablet reduces stomach acid production. It relieves symptoms and promotes healing in acid-related conditions like heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity caused by long-term pain medication use.
Pantocid is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). The active ingredient in Pantocid 40 is pantoprazole. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach, which helps prevent ulcers and reduces the backflow of acid that causes heartburn and acidity problems.
Common side effects of this medication include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, gas, diarrhea, and stomach pain. These are usually mild, but contact your doctor if they bother you or don't go away. Long-term use of this medication may increase your risk of bone fractures, especially with higher doses. Talk to your doctor about ways to prevent bone loss, such as taking calcium and vitamin D supplements.
A few other medicines with pantoprazole as their main ingredient are Pantodac 40mg tablet, Pantosec 40mg tablet, Pantakind 40mg tablet, Pantop 40mg tablet and Pan 40mg tablet.
Pantocid 40 tablets should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. They should usually be taken first thing in the morning or at least an hour before a meal. Do not miss any dose or take them more often than prescribed by your doctor.
