Description

P 40 Tablet is a commonly prescribed medication that helps reduce excessive acid production in the stomach. It is primarily used to treat conditions such as acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and stomach or intestinal ulcers. The active ingredient in P 40 Tablet is pantoprazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). By lowering acid levels in the stomach, this medication provides relief from symptoms such as heartburn, chest discomfort, and regurgitation.

Pantoprazole in P 40 Tablet works by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining that are responsible for producing stomach acid. By reducing acid secretion, it not only relieves symptoms but also aids in healing ulcers and preventing further damage to the oesophagus. This makes it highly effective in long-term management of acid-related disorders.

P 40 Tablet should always be taken as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually advised to take the tablet on an empty stomach, preferably 30–60 minutes before a meal. Do not skip doses or stop the medication suddenly without your doctor’s advice, even if your symptoms improve, as doing so may worsen your condition.

Along with taking P 40 Tablets regularly, certain lifestyle changes can help in better managing acidity and GERD. Eating smaller, more frequent meals, avoiding spicy and fatty foods, reducing caffeine, alcohol, and smoking, and maintaining a healthy weight are simple steps that can improve your digestive health. It is also recommended to avoid lying down immediately after meals.

Most people tolerate P 40 Tablet well, but like all medicines, it may cause mild side effects in some individuals, such as headache, nausea, abdominal pain, gas, or diarrhoea. These usually subside on their own. However, if you experience severe or persistent symptoms, consult your doctor immediately. Always inform your doctor about your medical history and ongoing medications before starting P 40 Tablet.
