Uses
- As per CDSCO, Quel SR Tablet is used in
- Schizophrenia above the age of 15 years
- Maniac episode of Bipolar type 1 disorder
- Major depressive disorder as a supportive treatment
Contraindications
- If you have an allergy to Quel SR tablet or its inactive ingredients.
- If you have been diagnosed with dementia and psychosis.
Side effects
- Uncontrollable urge to move and fidget
- Sleepiness
- Shakiness
- Dizziness
- Risk of falls
- Weight gain
- Memory problems
- Deficiencies in the blood
- High-fat levels in the blood
- Excessive salivation
- Low blood pressure

- Tell your doctor if you have:

Directions for Use
- Quel SR should be taken with a glass of water.
- Swallow the medicine whole without breaking it.
- It should be taken without food as fatty meals affect the absorption of Quel SR tablets.
- Follow the advice of the doctor about the time and dose of the medicine.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Medicines used to treat high blood pressure may get enhanced in their action due to the blood pressure-lowering effect of Quel SR. The dose of blood pressure-lowering medicines should be readjusted with Quel SR.
- Medicines used in parkinsonism, like levodopa may become less effective than Quel SR.
- Medicines used to treat seizures carbamazepine, and phenytoin reduce the levels of Quel SR in the blood.
- Medicines used to treat fungal infections such as itraconazole and ketoconazole increase Quel SR levels in the blood.
- Medicines such as belladonna, atropine, dicyclomine increase the gut-related side effects of Quel SR tablets.
- Medicine used in treating tuberculosis, such as rifampicin, reduces Quel SR’s availability in the blood when given with it.
Interactions with food items
- Fatty meals change the absorption of Quel SR tablets. It is preferably taken without food.
