Medical Description
Ecosprin 75 tablet is a medication that helps prevent heart attacks, strokes, and angina. It is also used in patients who have had angioplasty. The active ingredient is low-dose aspirin. Aspirin slows down blood clotting by preventing platelets from sticking to each other. This, in turn, reduces the formation of blood clots within the blood vessels, thus lowering the risk of angina, heart attack, and stroke.
Take Ecosprin 75 tablets in the exact dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure, lung disease, stomach ulcer, blood clotting problems, heavy menstrual bleeding, gout or if you recently had a stroke.
You should inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history. Also, inform the doctor about your other medicines and supplements.
While taking Ecosprin 75 tablets, you can incorporate certain lifestyle modifications to boost your health, such as reducing smoking and alcohol intake, regular exercise and eating a healthy balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
The tablets Sprin 75mg, Asa 75mg, Ascad 75mg and Alpyrin 75mg also include aspirin (low dose).

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Ecosprin 75 is an antiplatelet medicine. It inhibits the action of an enzyme, which makes platelets aggregate together to form a blood clot. When clot formation occurs in blood vessels, blood flow is obstructed or blocked, which is dangerous in cases of heart attack and leads to stroke or chest pain (angina).
- Aspirin in low doses stops these platelets from clumping together to form a clot so that blood flows without obstruction in the arteries.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of methotrexate (used to treat certain types of cancer) with aspirin should be avoided.
- Aspirin reverses the effect of probenecid (used to treat gout) hence concomitant use should be avoided.
- Other anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents must be used cautiously with aspirin due to the risk of bleeding.
- Ecosprin 75 increases the blood-glucose-lowering effect of certain antidiabetics. Hence, it must be used cautiously in people receiving antidiabetic medicines.
- Aspirin increases the levels of Digoxin (used for certain heart conditions) and Lithium (used for brain-related conditions).
- Aspirin may reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect of antihypertensive medicines like water pills. Inform the doctor.
- Other medicines like steroids, painkillers, antacids and immunomodulators may interact with the action of the medicine or may produce some undesirable effects. Inform the doctor about the medication history.
