Uses
- Rifa I 6 Kid Forte is used to treating tuberculosis.
Contraindications
- Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets are contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have had allergic reactions to any of its components in the past
- If you have liver disease. The tablets can further decrease the function of the liver
- If you suffer from gout. Gout is a condition in which one experiences severe pain and redness at the joint due to the deposition of uric acid crystals
- If you have diabetes as it can increase blood sugar levels.
- If you have porphyria (a condition in which one experiences stomach aches, changes in behaviour due to the accumulation of unwanted substances in the body)
- If you have pre-existing kidney diseases. The medicine is eliminated through urine, and a decrease in the function of the kidney can cause accumulation of the by-products of the medicine

- Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets have the following side effects:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Loss of appetite
- Yellowish discolouration of skin or eyes
- Dark-coloured urine
- Fatigue

- You should inform your doctor about all the medicines you take to prevent any adverse reactions.
- You should avoid exposure to sunlight.
- You should monitor your blood sugar levels after taking Rifa I6 Kid Forte tablets.
- You should avoid intake of alcohol after taking Rifa I6 Kid Forte tablets as it can increase the side effects of the medicine, like peripheral neuropathy ( sensation of tingling or numbness on the feet and hands).
- You take oral contraceptive pills, you should adopt other methods of contraceptives, as the Rifa I6 Kid Forte tablet decreases the efficacy of the oral medications.
- You should inform your doctor if you wear contact lenses. Rifa I6 Kid Forte tablets can cause permanent stains on the eyes if a contact lens is used while taking the medicine.
Directions for Use
- Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
- Seek medical help immediately if you have any side effects.
- Make sure that the treatment is complete.
- Do not discontinue using this medication without consulting your physician first.
- Keep the medicines in the container with the lid tightly closed.
- Take Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets on an empty stomach. This is because food decreases the absorption of one of the Rifa I 6 Forte tablet components, Rifampicin.

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Anti-epileptics (Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Valproate) are not eliminated from the body; hence the serum concentration of these medicines increases.
- Antifungals (ketoconazole) do not act efficiently if taken with the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet.
- Xanthines (theophylline) in combination with the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet can cause the toxicity of xanthines.
- Anti-gout medicines like Allopurinol do not work effectively in the presence of the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet.
- Antiarrhythmics (quinidine, mexiletine) are metabolised faster when combined with the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet.
- Oral contraceptive pills become ineffective when taken with Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets.
- Antidepressants (amitriptyline, nortriptyline) become ineffective when taken with the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet.
- Anticoagulants (warfarin) become ineffective and bleeding time increases.
- Antibiotics (doxycycline, Ciprofloxacin) are metabolised faster than usual.
- Antithyroid medicines (levothyroxine) should not be combined with Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets as antithyroid medicines become ineffective in the presence of Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablets.
- Calcium channel blockers (nifedipine, Diltiazem, Verapamil) become ineffective in the presence of the Rifa I 6 Kid Forte tablet.
Interactions with food items
- You should avoid food items rich in tyramine like cheese, beer, red wine, salmon fish, and meat.
