Paxidep Cr 25 MG Description

Paxidep Cr Tablet is a medicine used to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorders. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. The mechanism of action of this medicine is

to block the serotonin reuptake transporter (SERT) and thus increase the concentration of synaptic serotonin. It is used predominantly to treat patients with depression, and it has little or no affinity for cholinergic and alpha-adrenergic histamine receptors.

Precautions and Warnings of Paxidep Cr 25 MG

Pregnancy

Q:
Can I take Paxidep Cr Tablet during pregnancy?
A:
Since this medication is associated with congenital cardiovascular malformations in the newborn post-exposure in the first trimester and with newborn complications requiring prolonged hospitalisation, tube feeding, and respiratory support post-exposure in the third trimester, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It may harm an unborn baby and babies born to mothers who have used it during the last three months of pregnancy and may sometimes cause withdrawal symptoms such as feeding/breathing difficulties, seizures, muscle stiffness, or constant crying. However, since untreated mental/mood problems (such as panic attacks, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder) can harm an unborn baby, the pregnant woman shouldn’t stop taking this medication unless directed by the treating doctor.
