Medical Description

Netilmac Injection is an antibiotic medicine. It contains netilmicin as the active substance. Netilmac Injection is used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin, soft tissue, blood, blood poisoning by bacteria, brain, respiratory tract, kidney, bones, joints and genitourinary tract. It is also used to treat the bacterial infections caused due to burns, wounds and peri-operative (around the time of surgery) infections. This medicine will be given to you by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject it. Before starting Netilmac Injection, inform your doctor if you are pregnant/breastfeeding and about your complete medical history.

Uses

  • Netilmac Injection is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin, soft tissue, blood, blood poisoning by bacteria, brain, respiratory tract, kidney, bones, joints and genitourinary tract infections.
  • It is also used to treat bacterial infections occurring due to burns, wounds and peri-operative (around the time of surgery) infections.

Contraindications

You are allergic to netilmicin or other aminoglycosides or any of the other ingredients of Netilmac Injection.

Pregnancy

Missed a Dose

Netilmac Injection is a bactericidal antibiotic, which means that it kills the infection-causing bacteria. It acts by preventing normal protein synthesis in the bacteria, which causes its death.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Some medicines can affect the way Netilmac Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
  • Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
  • The concurrent and/or sequential systemic or topical use of other nerve-damaging and/or kidney-damaging medicines such as cisplatin, bacitracin, polymyxin B, colistin, cephaloridine, amphotericin B, kanamycin, acyclovir, gentamicin, amikacin, sisomicin, tobramycin, neomycin, streptomycin, paromomycin, cephalothin, viomycin and vancomycin, should be avoided with Netilmac Injection.
  • The concurrent use of this medicine with potent diuretics, such as ethacrynic acid or frusemide, should be avoided.
  • Increased kidney damage may occur with the concomitant use of Netilmac Injection with some cephalosporins (used to treat bacterial infections).
  • Neuromuscular blockade and respiratory paralysis can occur if neuromuscular blocking medicines such as succinylcholine, tubocurarine or decamethonium and anaesthetics are used with this medicine.
