Medical Description
Levosiz-M tablet is used to manage symptoms of allergic rhinitis. It provides relief from runny & stuffed nose, blockage in airways, sneezing, itching, watery eyes and other allergic symptoms.
Levosiz M is an anti-allergic medicine. It contains a combination of two medicines: Montelukast and Levocetirizine. This tablet works by blocking the production of the chemical substance responsible for producing allergy symptoms. Take it as prescribed by your doctor for the exact duration.
Levosiz M can be taken with or without food. However, it is advised to take the tablet at bedtime as it may cause dizziness. Also, avoid driving after taking this medicine, as it may alter your level of alertness. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor about your detailed medical history.
Some other tablets containing montelukast and levocetirizine are Telekast L, Montina L, Odimont Lc, Montair LC and Monticope tablets.
Uses
- For the treatment of allergic rhinitis (runny nose, blockage in airways, sneezing, chest congestion, itching, watery eyes and stuffed nose).
- For the symptoms of Cold and flu.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to levocetirizine, cetirizine, montelukast or any of the ingredients of the Levosiz-M tablet.
- If you have kidney problems or undergoing dialysis.
- If you are unable to digest lactose and glucose.

- You are suffering from mental health illness.
- You experience a rash or breathing difficulty.
- You are not able to empty the bladder.
- You are suffering from a genetic disorder called phenylketonuria.
- You are already taking painkillers like aspirin as they can increase the risk of asthma.
- You are on medications for allergies (corticosteroids) like Prednisone and Prednisolone.
- Levosiz-M tablet is not meant for relief from acute asthma, use your inhaler for asthma relief in an acute attack.
- Levosiz-M tablet can cause anxiety, aggression, lack of sleep and suicidal thoughts. In case you experience any of these, immediately inform your doctor.
Directions for Use
- Levosiz-M tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
- Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
- You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
Storage and disposal
- Store Levosiz-M tablets below 30°C.
- Try to protect it from light and moisture.
- Keep it away from the reach of children and pets.
- Do not use expired medicines.
- Discard any unused medicine properly. Do not flush in the toilet or throw it into the drain.

How Does It Work?
- Levosiz-M tablet works by the combined action of two medicines - montelukast and levocetirizine.
- Montelukast blocks certain natural substances called leukotrienes which may cause allergies. It reduces swelling, relaxes airways and helps to make breathing easier.
- Levocetirizine blocks histamine, a natural substance, which is produced by the body during allergic reactions.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Certain medicines can affect the way Levosiz M tablet works and Levosiz M tablet itself can affect the action of certain medicines when taken together. However, this medicine contains levocetirizine and montelukast. Any interaction which is seen with any of these two components when taken alone may occur with this combination too.
- Medicines used to treat fits or epilepsy like Phenytoin, and medicines used to treat tuberculosis like Rifampicin should be used with caution along with this medicine.
- Concomitant use of the Monticope tablet along with medicines used to treat anxiety or sleeplessness (CNS depressants) like Phenobarbital should be used cautiously.
- You should always tell the doctor if you are taking any other medicines, herbal preparation and supplements to avoid any interaction.
