Medical Description
Ampiclox capsule is a medicine used to treat infections caused by bacteria in different parts of the body. These can include infections in your nose, ears, throat, lungs, airways, and even your bones. It helps by stopping the bacteria from growing and spreading, allowing your body to fight off the infection more effectively.
This medicine contains two ingredients: ampicillin and cloxacillin. They work together as a team to make the antibiotic stronger and more effective in treating infections. Because it's designed to combat bacteria, it won’t help with illnesses caused by viruses, such as the flu or a cold.
You should take Ampiclox exactly as your doctor tells you. Stick to the dose and don’t skip or stop taking it early, even if you start to feel better. Stopping too soon can allow the bacteria to survive and possibly cause the infection to recur, sometimes even with greater severity.
If you're pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, let your doctor know before starting Ampiclox. This helps your doctor decide if it's the right treatment for you and your baby.
Always finish the full course of antibiotics, and don’t share the medicine with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms. Also, let your doctor know if you're taking any other medications or if you notice any unusual side effects while taking this one.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Ampiclox capsule contains ampicillin and cloxacillin as active substances.
- Both ampicillin and cloxacillin bind to certain proteins called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and prevent the formation of the bacterial cell wall. This results in the death of infection-causing bacteria.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Ampiclox capsule works or Ampiclox capsule itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Particular care should be taken when taking medicines for treating gout (probenecid, allopurinol), birth control (ethinyl estradiol), pain/fever (aspirin), bacterial infections (sulphonamides).
Interactions with food items
- You can take Ampiclox capsules with or without food, but taking them about 30 minutes before a meal helps the medicine work better.
- Avoid taking it with milk, cheese, curd, or other dairy products right before or after your dose, as these can reduce the antibiotic's absorption.
- Try not to take Ampiclox with acidic drinks like orange juice, soda, or other fizzy beverages, as they may upset your stomach or reduce the medicine’s effectiveness.
- Drink plenty of water while on this medicine to help your body process it properly and avoid dehydration.
- Avoid alcohol during the treatment, as it can irritate your stomach and make side effects like dizziness or nausea worse.
