Medical Description
Zenflox-OZ tablet is an antibiotic used to treat diarrhoea caused by mixed infections in adults. It is a combination medicine containing ofloxacin and ornidazole. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and killing the bacteria that cause infection. The common side effects of taking Zenflox-OZ tablet are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, itching, and changes in taste sensation. Consult your doctor immediately if any of the side effects worsen during or after treatment with this medicine.
This medicine should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. You should take it with meals to avoid stomach upset. Do not stop taking this medicine if you feel better within a few days. Always finish the course of antibiotic medicine for effective treatment. Nor Metrogyl Plus tablet, Oflotas Oz tablet, O2 tablet, Ornof tablet, and Brakke tablet are some other medications that also include ofloxacin and ornidazole.

Contraindications of ZENFLOX OZ STRIP OF 10 TABLETS
- If you are allergic to Ofloxacin, Ornidazole or any of the ingredient of Zenflox-OZ tablet
- If you are allergic to the class of medicines called Fluoroquinolone
- If you have a history of fits (epilepsy)
- If you have problems related to tendon (tissue connecting muscles to bones) like inflammation and swelling of the tendons (tendonitis)
- If you are pregnant or are planning to have a baby or if you are breastfeeding
- If your age is less than 18 years
- If you have Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells) or a family history of this deficiency

Overdose
- Symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, hot and cold flushes, nausea, dizziness, facial swelling, numbness, slurring of speech and disorientation
- In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital
Missed a Dose
- If you missed any dose of Zenflox-OZ tablet, take it as soon as you remember
- If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule
- Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one
- It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in failure of therapy

How Does It Work?
- Zenflox-OZ tablet works by the combined action of Ofloxacin & Ornidazole.
- Ofloxacin inhibits the enzyme synthesis responsible for bacterial DNA replication. Hence, it shows the bactericidal effect.
- Ornidazole destructs the DNA helical structure, which interrupts the protein synthesis and ultimately leads to the death of bacteria.

Interactions with other medicines
- Zenflox-OZ tablet contains Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Any interaction which is seen with any of these two components when taken alone may occur with this combination too.
- Medicines used to treat acidity (antacids) like Sucralfate, antacids containing calcium and magnesium should not be taken two hours before or after this medicine
- Medicines used to treat a certain type of stomach ulcers like Cimetidine
- Medicines used to treat pain and inflammation (NSAID's) can increase the chance of fits
- Medicines used to treat asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) like Theophylline
- Increased chances of bleeding if taken along with Warfarin
- Blood sugar can drop if you are on insulin, Glibenclamide and thus careful monitoring of blood glucose is needed
- Medicines used to treat depression like Lithium
- Medicines used to treat fits or epilepsy (antiepileptic) like Phenytoin and Phenobarbital
