Medical Description

Urimax D Tablet is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate gland, in adult men. It helps relieve urinary symptoms such as difficulty passing urine, weak urine stream, frequent urination, urgency, and incomplete bladder emptying. Urimax D Tablet contains tamsulosin and dutasteride as its active ingredients. Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles of the prostate and urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body), making it easier to pass urine, while dutasteride reduces the size of the enlarged prostate over time. Together, they improve urine flow and help relieve the symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

Take Urimax D Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, and do not take more than the recommended dose.

Do not take Urimax D Tablet if you are allergic to tamsulosin, dutasteride, or any of its other ingredients. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor about your complete medical history, especially if you have low blood pressure, liver disease, or kidney disease. Also, tell your doctor about all the medicines, herbal products, and supplements you are taking, as this medicine may interact with them.

Urimax D Tablet is intended only for adult men with benign prostatic hyperplasia. It should not be used by women or children and is not indicated for the treatment of prostate cancer. If your partner is pregnant or may become pregnant, your doctor may advise you to use a condom during sexual intercourse, as dutasteride may be present in semen. Your doctor may also recommend regular blood pressure monitoring during treatment. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may increase dizziness or light-headedness.

Tamsulosin and dutasteride are also active ingredients in the medications Veltam Plus tablet, Flodart Plus tablet, Tamdura capsule, Flokind D tablet, and Dutas T Plus tablet. T

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Urimax D Tablet is used to treat the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate in men, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia. It relieves difficulty starting, a weak stream, dribbling, and frequent or urgent urination including at night, and reduces the risk of complete urinary blockage and the need for surgery.
They address the two separate reasons an enlarged prostate obstructs flow. Tamsulosin relaxes the muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, easing the squeeze immediately. Dutasteride shrinks the gland itself over months by blocking the hormone that drives its growth. One gives quick relief, the other treats the underlying enlargement.
The tamsulosin component often improves symptoms within days to a couple of weeks. The dutasteride component works far more slowly, taking three to six months to shrink the prostate measurably, with the fullest benefit at six to twelve months. Do not judge the treatment in the first weeks.
Dutasteride is absorbed through the skin and can harm the development of a male foetus. A pregnant woman, or one who might become pregnant, must not handle leaking or damaged capsules. If contact occurs, wash the area with soap and water at once.
Because dutasteride persists in the body for months, you must not donate blood while taking it or for at least six months after stopping. This prevents your blood being given to a pregnant woman, in whom it could harm a male foetus.
Yes, importantly. Dutasteride roughly halves the PSA level after about six months. This does not mean your cancer risk has changed. Any doctor interpreting your PSA must know you take this medicine so the result can be doubled, and a new baseline established. A rising PSA while on treatment should always be investigated.
Tamsulosin can cause floppy iris syndrome, in which the iris behaves unpredictably during cataract or glaucoma surgery and complications become more likely. Your eye surgeon needs to know well in advance, even if you stopped the medicine some time ago, so the operation can be planned accordingly.
Tamsulosin relaxes muscle in blood vessel walls as well as the prostate, so blood pressure can drop briefly when you stand. This is most likely with the first few doses and after any dose increase. Rise slowly, and sit or lie down immediately if you feel faint.
It can. Reduced sexual desire, difficulty with erections, reduced semen volume and problems with ejaculation are recognised effects of both components and may persist while on treatment. Breast tenderness or enlargement can also occur. Discuss these with your doctor rather than simply stopping the medicine.
About thirty minutes after the same meal each day, usually breakfast or dinner. Taking it consistently in relation to food keeps absorption steady, and taking it after food reduces the chance of dizziness. Swallow it whole; do not chew or open it.
Mention low blood pressure or a tendency to faint, liver disease, kidney disease, any planned cataract or glaucoma surgery, and any allergy to sulfa medicines. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, particularly others for blood pressure and any treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Take it as soon as you remember on the same day, after food. If you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and take your usual one. Do not take two together, as this increases the risk of dizziness and fainting.
