Unipride 10 MG Description
Unipride Tablet is an anti-emetic medication. It contains cisapride as the active substance. Unipride Tablet is used in the treatment of heartburn due to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults. It works by increasing the rate at which your oesophagus, stomach and intestines move during digestion. It also increases the rate at which your stomach empties into your intestines. Take this medicine in the exact dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Unipride Tablet may cause serious irregular heartbeats, which may be fatal. Tell your doctor if you have a family history of heart problems or if you have/had irregular heartbeats, heart disease, severe dehydration, vomiting, eating disorders or kidney or lung failure. Before starting Unipride Tablet, inform your doctor if you are pregnant/breastfeeding and about your complete medical history....

Uses of Unipride 10 MG
Unipride Tablet is used to treat heartburn due to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adults.
Contraindications of Unipride 10 MG
- If you are allergic to cisapride or any of the ingredients of Unipride Tablet.
- If you have bleeding or an obstruction in your stomach.
- If you have any heart disease such as congestive heart failure, slow heart rate, heart rhythm disorder, a structural heart defect, heart block or other conduction disorders.
- If you have a personal or family history of long QT syndrome.
- If you have hardening of the arteries.
- If you have severe dehydration, malnutrition or an eating disorder.
- If you have kidney failure, severe lung problems or advanced cancer.

Pregnancy

How Does It Work?
- Unipride Tablet increases the movement of your esophagus, stomach and intestines during digestion.
- It also increases the rate at which your stomach empties into your intestines and increases the lower esophageal sphincter tone.
Directions for Use of Unipride 10 MG
- Take Unipride Tablet as a whole with sufficient water.
- Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- Do not consume more than the prescribed dose.
- Do not discontinue the medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.
Interactions of Unipride 10 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Unipride Tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Unipride Tablet should not be taken along with medicines like bepridil (used to treat high blood pressure and heart-related chest pain); medicines used to treat mental disorders like chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, mesoridazine, perphenazine, sertindole, thioridazine, thiothixene, trifluoperazine; clarithromycin, erythromycin, troleandomycin (used to treat bacterial infections); fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections); medications for the treatment of depression such as amitriptyline, amoxapine, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, imipramine, maprotiline, nefazodone, nortriptyline, protriptyline and trimipramine; medications for the treatment of irregular heart beats such as amiodarone, disopyramide, quinidine, procainamide and sotalol; prochlorperazine (used to treat nausea/vomiting); promethazine (used for treating allergic symptoms); protease inhibitors such as indinavir and ritonavir used to treat HIV/AIDS and sparfloxacin (used to treat bacterial respiratory infections and sinusitis)....
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking anti-anxiety medications, anticholinergics (atropine, belladonna, benztropine, dicyclomine, diphenhydramine, isopropamide, procyclidine and scopolamine), anticoagulants/blood thinners such as warfarin, anti-bacterial like azithromycin, anti-ulcer medications like cimetidine, anti-infectives like dirithromycin, fluid accumulation/swelling reducing medicines like diuretics, antifungals like miconazole, tranquillizers and vitamins....
Interactions with food items
Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Unipride Tablet.
Storage and disposal of Unipride 10 MG
- Store Unipride Tablet in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Unipride 10 MG
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose of Unipride Tablet include nausea, vomiting, rumbling noises in the stomach, flatulence (gas), diarrhoea, increase in urinary frequency and weakness. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital....
Missed a Dose
If you missed any dose of Unipride Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one....
