Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Cisapride acts by increasing movement of food inside the stomach and the intestine during the process of digestion. It also works by increasing the rate at which the stomach empties its content into the small intestine. It releases more acetylcholine into the stomach and increases the pressure in the pyloric sphincter (the muscle that is present between your stomach and your small intestine), thereby increasing the gastric emptying time.
