Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Trinex tablet is a combination medicine that contains Trifluoperazine-5 mg and Trihexyphenidyl (Benzhexol Hydrochloride)-2 mg as the main ingredients. Trifluoperazine belongs to the typical antipsychotic class of medications. It works by blocking dopamine receptors, resulting in the decreased effect of dopamine (a natural chemical substance in the body). It helps control the positive (hallucination, delusions, disorganised speech and thoughts) and negative symptoms (emotional coldness, low motivation) of schizophrenia. Trihexyphenidyl (Benzhexol Hydrochloride) belongs to the anticholinergic class of medicine. It works by blocking acetylcholine. Trihexyphenidyl possesses smooth muscle-relaxing properties, which help control extrapyramidal side effects (i.e., restlessness, involuntary muscle contraction, rigidity) of Trifluoperazine.
