Medical Description

Tabrol Ds Tablet is a combination medicine containing trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole, which are antibiotics. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the airways, urinary tract, genitals, stomach, bowel, and other areas. Trimethoprim functions by killing bacteria, while sulfamethoxazole inhibits their growth. Some side effects of using Tabrol Ds Tablet include muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, tiredness or weakness, nausea, and loose motions. These side effects are usually temporary and resolve on their own. If side effects persist or your condition does not improve over time, please inform your doctor.

Tabrol Ds Tablet is used for the treatment of bacterial infection of airways, urinary tract, genital, stomach, bowel etc.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to trimethoprim, sulfamethoxazole, cotrimoxazole or any other ingredients of Tabrol Ds Tablet.
  • If you are allergic to sulfonamide medicine.
  • If you have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • If you are using Tabrol Ds Tablet for the treatment of your baby of age less than 6 weeks.
  • If you had bruises or bleeding due to a decrease in platelet count in your blood.

  • Hyperkalaemia (high level of potassium in the blood)

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion etc. If you have taken too much of this medicine then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed taking any dose of this medicine then take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.

You should drink plenty of fluid such as water while taking Tabrol Ds Tablet to decrease the risk of kidney stones.

You should not stop taking Tabrol Ds Tablet before completion of the course of medicine unless you have an allergy to this medicine. If you stop taking this medicine before completion of treatment, there are chances that the infection can recur again, and there are chances that this medicine will not be useful for the treatment of the same bacterial infection in future.

You should take Tabrol Ds Tablet in dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If taken for a prolonged period this medicine can cause fungal infection of the mouth, vagina etc. Consult your doctor if you have a white patch in your mouth or a change in vaginal discharge in the case of female patients.
