Medical Description
cream is a medication used to treat various skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, fungal infections such as ringworm or athlete's foot, and bacterial skin infections. It combines three active ingredients: betamethasone, clotrimazole, and gentamicin. They work together to reduce inflammation, fight fungal infections, and kill bacteria causing skin issues.
Betamethasone helps by reducing swelling, redness, and itching caused by inflammation or allergic reactions. Clotrimazole works by damaging the protective layer of fungi, leading to their death and stopping the infection. Gentamicin stops bacteria from growing by blocking the production of proteins they need to survive, helping to clear bacterial skin infections.
This medication is meant for external use only. It should be applied to clean, dry skin. Hands should be washed before and after use. Avoid covering the treated area with bandages unless directed to do so by a doctor, and keep it away from your eyes. Some mild side effects may include burning, itching, redness, or acne-like breakouts; however, these usually subside on their own.
It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions while using this medication. Do not use it for longer than recommended, especially on sensitive areas like the face or in children. Let your doctor know if your skin condition worsens, if you have kidney issues, or if you experience unusual reactions. Also, inform your doctor about any other medicines you're using, even though skin creams generally do not cause major interactions.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
- Betamethasone works by reducing inflammation in the body. It is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of certain chemicals (like prostaglandins and leukotrienes) that cause swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions. By doing this, it helps relieve symptoms of conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and other inflammatory skin disorders.
- Clotrimazole works by stopping the growth of fungi. It damages the fungal cell membrane by blocking the production of a substance called ergosterol, which is essential for the fungi's survival. Without ergosterol, the cell membrane becomes weak, causing the contents to leak out and the fungus to die. This helps treat infections like athlete’s foot, ringworm, and candidiasis.
- Gentamicin works by inhibiting the production of proteins that bacteria require for growth and survival. It attaches to a part of the bacterial cell called the ribosome, which is responsible for protein production. By disrupting this process, gentamicin causes the bacteria to produce faulty proteins, leading to their death and helping clear the infection.
