Contraindications of Macpod 100mg Susp

The medicine is not to be taken by patients who are allergic to it, along with infection of intestines with clostridium difficile and in conditions showing abnormal liver function tests.

Side effects of Macpod 100mg Susp

Macpod 100mg Susp side effects commonly include diarrhoea, vomiting and nausea. Sometimes, it may result in swelling of ankles, increased heartbeat, yellow discolouration of eyes and skin, changes in the quantity of urine (kidney problems) and bruising easily. Rarely, it can cause severe intestinal problems that cause abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea. Prolong usage may cause oral and vaginal thrush where white patches appear in mouth and change in vaginal discharge is noted.

This medicine acts by killing the bacteria, thus restricting their growth.

Directions for Use of Macpod 100mg Susp

Shake the bottle well before taking the medicine. It can be consumed with or without food. Continue the dosage till the prescribed duration, since stopping in between can cause reinfection.

Antacids are known to reduce the absorption of Macpod 100mg Susp, hence the doctor should be informed if you are consuming antacids.

Macpod 100mg Susp is excreted by the kidney, hence dosage adjustment is required. Haemodialysis also removes this drug unchanged from the body. So it should be given after dialysis. The medicine is also known to increase the levels of SGOT, SGPT and alkaline phosphatase temporarily, and therefore must be avoided in liver diseases.
