Molecule Description
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is used to treat infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, bronchitis and other infections of the nose, throat, skin, urinary tract, etc. It belongs to the antibiotic group of medicines. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is available in the form of tablet, syrup, tabcap. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from before starting cefpodoxime proxetil.
Uses
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is used for the treatment of respiratory tract infection like bronchitis, pneumonia and infections of the ear, tonsils, sinuses, throat, skin, urinary tract, etc.
Contraindications
When should one not use Cefpodoxime Proxetil
If you are allergic to cefpodoxime proxetil or similar medicines like penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics.

- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines to treat gout or taking antacids, blood-thinning medicines.
Dosage
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, severe diarrhoea, fits. Seek urgent medical help if you suspect an overdose.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed any dose of cefpodoxime proxetil, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is already time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
