Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Contraindications of Gluformin I 1gm Tab 15'S

  • Liver and serious kidney diseases
  • Conditions wherein the body starts producing a large amount of acid (diabetic ketoacidosis, lactic acidosis)
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Asthma
  • Blood diseases (anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency)

  • The most common side effects of Gluformin I 1gm Tab 15'S are stomach pain, low appetite, diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, metallic mouth taste and fatigue
  • Serious side effects are distorted vision, mouth ulcer, painful urination, irregular breathing, sore throat, decreased heartbeat, yellowish skin/eye, muscle weakness or pain, severe weakness and light-headedness, and allergic reactions (rash, redness and fever)

Pregnancy

Pregnant women are advised not to take this tablet. Insulin therapy is the preferred treatment for pregnant diabetics.

Driving

Mode of Action of Gluformin I 1gm Tab 15'S

How Does It Work?

In type 2 diabetes mellitus, the pancreas is not able to produce a sufficient amount of insulin or the body does not properly use the insulin produced. Due to these conditions, one's blood sugar level increases. This medicine works by decreasing the amount of glucose absorbed from the intestine, lowering the amount of sugar created by the liver, and facilitating the entry of sugar into the cells.
