Description
Formoflo Transhaler is used in the treatment of asthma, characterized by wheezing and shortness of breath, as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which is a lung disorder that obstr
ucts airflow. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making breathing easier. This medication is not intended for relieving sudden asthma attacks. In the event of an asthma attack, you should use your quick-relief inhaler instead. To maximize the benefits of this medicine, it’s essential to use the inhaler correctly; otherwise, it may not work effectively. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, respiratory tract infections, headaches, hoarseness, sore throat, cough, musculoskeletal pain (affecting bones, muscles, or joints), and increased heart rate. If you experience side effects, do not stop taking the medication but consult your doctor for advice. You can help reduce some of these symptoms by rinsing your mouth and throat with water or brushing your teeth after using your inhaler. Formoflo Transhaler is used in the treatment of breathing difficulties due to narrowing of the airways (COPD) and asthma.
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to fluticasone, formoterol or any ingredients listed in this medicine.
- If you have an intolerance to certain sugars (galactose intolerance).

Formoflo Transhaler contains a steroid medicine fluticasone which reduces the swelling and irritation of airways while Formoterol helps in widening of the air passage. Together both these medicines make breathing easy and provide relief in the symptoms of shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, wheezing, etc. in patients with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)....
Directions for Use
- Learn the proper technique of using Formoflo Transhaler from your doctor, if possible use it in front of them for the first time so that they may check.
- Formoflo Transhaler is meant for inhalation purpose only, do not swallow
- Rinse your mouth with water and spit out after using this medicine
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of some blood pressure-lowering medicines (propranolol, atenolol, water pills) along with Formoflo Transhaler should be done with caution.
- Medicines to treat fungal and bacterial infections (ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin) and antiviral medicines (ritonavir, cobicistat-containing products) may worsen the side effects if given along with this medicine....
- If steroid tablets or injections are going on, the use of inhalers should be done judiciously as it may add up to side effects.
- Tell your doctor about all ongoing medicines and herbal supplements before you start this treatment.
Storage and disposal
- Keep the container tightly closed. Store below 25° Celsius in a dry place, protected from heat and moisture. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
