- As per US FDA, Alprocontin tablet is used in
- Generalised anxiety disorder
- Panic disorders
- Panic disorders with agoraphobia (extensive fear of places or situations)
Contraindications
- If you have had an allergic reaction to Alprocontin or any of its active/inactive ingredients in the past.
- If you have abnormal weakness of muscles (Myasthenia gravis).
- If you have severe liver disease or breathing problems.
- If you are under 18.

Directions for Use

How Does It Work?
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Medicines of the group opioids such as oxycodone, codeine and fentanyl may cause life-threatening side effects if given along with Alprocontin. This may result in severe breathing problems and coma.
- Medicines used for contraception increase the levels of Alprocontin in the blood. This requires adjustment of the dose of Alprocontin.
- Medicines used to treat acidities, such as cimetidine and ranitidine, increase the effect of Alprocontin tablet. The dose of Alprocontin should be reduced.
- Medicines used to treat seizures such as carbamazepine may decrease the effectiveness of Alprocontin when given together.
- Medicines used to treat depression such as nefazodone, fluvoxamine, fluoxetine and imipramine increase the effect of Alprocontin tablets. The dose of Alprocontin should be reduced when prescribed with these medicines.
- Medicines used to treat fungal infections such as itraconazole and ketoconazole increase the Alprocontin tablet's effect.
- Medicines used to treat bacterial and viral infections such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, and ritonavir increase the impact of Alprocontin tablets.
- Medicine used in treating tuberculosis, such as isoniazid, may interact with the Alprocontin tablet.
- Medicine used for heart conditions such as digoxin may produce toxic effects when given with Alprocontin.
Interactions with food items
- You can continue to have your usual food unless your doctor has given you some suggestions to change your diet.
