Zyven Od Plus tablet is a prescription medication. Managing the symptoms of anxiety disorder, mood disorders, and comorbid depression are the most common uses of Zyven Od Plus tablets. It is a combination of two active components: Clonazepam and Desvenlafaxine. Clonazepam is a tranquilliser (medicines that reduce anxiety and fear). Desvenlafaxine is an antidepressant and helps stabilise mood.
Mood disorders such as anxiety and depression are the most common psychological disorders. The mode of action of Zyven Od Plus tablets is by reducing the excess activity of nerves in the brain and stabilising mood. The medicine also induces a calming effect and sedation. Drowsiness, tiredness, diarrhoea, stomach issues and slow heart rate are some side effects of Zyven Od Plus tablets.
Follow your doctor's directions for using Zyven Od Plus Tablet carefully. Monitoring dose is essential in older adults and those with liver and kidney illnesses. This medication can cause physical dependence in the long term. Uses
- As per CDSCO, the Zyven Od Plus tablet is used for the following conditions:
- In the treatment of the symptoms of comorbid depression (depression associated with other disorders)
- In the management of symptoms of anxiety disorder, panic disorder and other mood disorders
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in the following cases:
If you have any allergic reaction to the components of Zyven Od Plus tablets.
If you have a history of alcohol addiction or drug/substance abuse, mental health disorder, depression, etc.
If you are using other anti-anxiety or sedatives, they can interfere with Zyven Od Plus tablets and cause adverse reactions.
If you have acute-angle glaucoma (an eye condition that causes high fluid pressure inside the eye), Zyven Od Plus tablets worsen the condition
If you have liver disease
If you have a seizure disorder and are on particular antiepileptic (anti-seizure) medication
If you have sudden mood changes or suicidal thoughts after starting treatment with Zyven Od tablets
If you are pregnant or planning to conceive

Storage and disposal

Overdose
Zyven Od Plus tablet overdose can cause dizziness, shakiness, sudden muscle movements, agitation, convulsion, nausea, vomiting, sodium or potassium electrolyte imbalance, sleep disturbances, confusion, hypotension, increased heart rate, diminished reflexes and loss of consciousness.
If you overdose on Zyven Od Plus tablets and experience any of these symptoms, immediately seek emergency medical treatment from a hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a single dose of the Zyven Od Plus tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If you recall missing a dose when it is almost the time to take the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not use them together, as this can lead to an overdose. If you skipped more than a few doses consecutively, consult your doctor.

How Does It Work?
Zyven Od Plus tablet has Clonazepam and Desvenlafaxine as its active ingredients.
Clonazepam belongs to the class of benzodiazepine medicines. It functions by increasing the action of a chemical messenger in the brain known as GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). This substance reduces the abnormal or excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain and is responsible for the sedation properties of the medicine. Zyven Od Plus tablets do not change GABA levels in the brain.
Desvenlafaxine is classified as a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRIs), a type of antidepressant medication. It works by intercepting specific receptors and reducing the reuptake of chemical messengers: serotonin and noradrenaline. These chemicals are responsible for balancing mood. This medicine raises their levels and activity in the body.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Anti-anxiety and mood disorder medicines, such as linezolid, moclobemide, selegiline, etc., combined with the Zyven Od Plus tablet can cause severe reactions. They inhibit serotonin metabolism and can result in serotonin levels that are high enough to cause Serotonin Syndrome. It is a serious condition that can lead to death.
- It is better not to take other medicines that cause drowsiness such as antihistamines (cetirizine), cold and cough medicine, opiates or narcotic pain relievers (codeine, tramadol), muscle relaxants, etc., with Zyven Od Plus tablets. These medicines can increase the side effects of Zyven Od Plus tablets and cause extreme drowsiness.
- If you have bleeding issues or use blood thinners, use caution when taking Zyven Od Plus tablets, as this medicine increases the risk of bleeding.
- If you are already using antiepileptic medicines for seizure disorders, inform your doctor as these medicines can increase the side effects of Zyven Od Plus tablets.
Interactions with food items
- Avoid drinking excessive amounts of coffee and restrict caffeine products. Depression disrupts sleep, and caffeine, a stimulant, can worsen the problem.
- Avoid eating grapefruit and its juice while on treatment with Zyven Od Plus tablets. This fruit can increase the levels of this medicine in the blood.
