Uses
- Serepose 1 mg tablet treats schizophrenia.
Contraindications
- Serepose 1 mg tablet is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have had allergic reactions to the medicine
- If you have taken with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) like Tranylcypromine, Selegiline. The combination of the medicines can cause severe adverse effects like flushing, low blood pressure levels, coma, and can eventually cause death
- If you suffer from pre-existing heart diseases
- If you have pre-existing liver diseases as the medicine is metabolised in the liver
- If you are a child, adolescent and young adult as this medicine increase the chances of the emergence of suicidal thoughts in them
- If you suffer from diseases related to the lungs as it decreases the respiratory rate
- If you suffer from a history of addiction. This medicine has habit-forming potential.
- If you are elderly with dementia as it increases the chances of stroke
Side effects
- The side effects of Serepose 1 mg tablet is as follows:
- Drowsiness
- Menstrual abnormalities
- Discharge from breast
- Constipation
- Dryness in mouth
- Weight gain
- Low blood pressure levels
- Involuntary muscle contractions
- Restlessness
- Urinary Retention

Other General Warnings
- You have any drastic changes in mood or behaviour.
- You have thoughts related to suicide and self-harm.
- You have angle-closure glaucoma as Serepose 1mg tablets may increase the severity of the symptoms.
- You are elderly as dose modifications may be required.
- You have any pre-existing kidney conditions. This medicine is primarily excreted through urine. Hence, a decrease in the excretion of the medicine can increase its concentration in the body.
- You experience convulsions even after taking this medicine. Alternative medicine may be prescribed to control any future episodes of seizure.
Directions for Use
- Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
- Seek medical help immediately, if you have any side effects.
- Make sure that the treatment is complete.
- Do not discontinue using this medication without consulting your physician first.
- Keep the medicines in the container with the lid tightly closed.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Antidepressants (bupropion, fluoxetine) cause drowsiness and impairment in judgement.
- Antiepileptics (phenytoin) as it decreases the efficacy of Serepose 1 mg tablets.
- Anti-malaria medication (Quinidine) as the combination can cause abnormalities in the heart.
- Medicines used to treat urine incontinence (darifenacin, fesoterodine, oxybutynin, tolterodine) as they become ineffective in the presence of Serepose 1 mg tablets.
- Bronchodilators (ipratropium or tiotropium) as it can increase the chances of tremors.
- Antihistamines (cetirizine) as they cause drowsiness.
- Antiarrhythmics (propafenone, flecainide) as the combination can increase the chances of palpitations and abnormalities in the heart rhythm.
- Antifungals (ketoconazole) as Serepose 1 mg tablets decrease the efficacy of the medicine.
- Antacids (Cimetidine, Omeprazole) as it decreases the absorption of the Serepose 1 mg tablets.
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine, Selegiline) should not be combined with Serepose 1 mg tablets as it can worsen the symptoms of low blood pressure and can lead to coma(state of unconsciousness).
- Antibiotics (Clarithromycin, erythromycin) decrease the efficacy of Serepose 1 mg tablet.
Interactions with food items
- There are no known adverse reactions between food and Serepose 1 mg tablets.
