Medical Description
Relent Plus syrup is a cough and cold preparation. It is used to treat coughs with mucous. It also relieves allergic symptoms like itching, sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, cough, congestion and watery eyes. It contains ambroxol and cetirizine as its active ingredients.
Relent Plus syrup acts by preventing the release of a substance called histamine responsible for allergic conditions. It also works by loosening the mucous, thus easing breathing. Relent Plus syrup may cause dizziness, so be careful while driving or using heavy machines. Also, avoid smoking and avoid exposure to dust and pollution.
Take this medicine as suggested by the doctor and in the dose and duration prescribed. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and your detailed medical history.
According to the advisory issued by the Union Health Ministry, cough and cold medications should not be prescribed or dispensed to children under two years of age. These medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old. For children above that age, any use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.

How Does It Work?
- Relent Plus syrup contains a combination of ambroxol and cetirizine as its active ingredients.
- Cetirizine inhibits the allergic symptoms produced by histamines (a certain chemical substance that is released by the body).
- Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic agent. It works by loosening/thinning up the mucous in the respiratory passages and makes the mucous less sticky. Thus, it helps in removing the cough from the body.
- The combined action of these ingredients helps in relieving cough and congestion.
