Medical Description

Ovral L tablet is a birth control pill used to prevent pregnancy. It contains the hormones levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol, which are similar to the natural hormones in a woman’s body. It works by preventing the release of the egg and restricting the movement of the sperm in the womb.

Take this tablet as prescribed by your doctor. To gain the greatest effectiveness, a woman must take pills daily without any breaks. Skipping any dose may lead to failure of contraception and unwanted pregnancy. A few more medicines that also contain the same active molecules are Unwanted 21days tablet, Triquilar tablet, Ovipauz L tablet, and I Pill Daily tablet.

Before starting Ovral L, it's crucial to discuss any existing conditions related to the lung, liver, kidney, or heart with your doctor. You should also disclose conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, migraine, obesity, epilepsy, or depression. Ovral L is not recommended for those with breast, cervical, or liver cancer, or for individuals who have a history of depression, blood clots, stroke, or circulatory problems.

Ovral L is contraindicated for pregnant women, prepubescent children, menopausal women, breastfeeding mothers, and women over 35 who smoke. Some common side effects of Ovral L include vaginal infections, discharge, spotting, breast tenderness, mood changes, decreased libido, and weight fluctuations. If you had or have a pancreas or liver problems.
If you have diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol.
If you have a history of vaginal bleeding (cause not established), absent periods for more than 3 months (amenorrhea).
If you have or are suspected of having breast cancer or cancer of the genital organs (private parts).
If you are taking treatment for Hepatitis C with a medicine that contains Ombitasvir/Paritaprevir/Ritonavir plus Dasabuvir.

Moreover, it may also lead to a reduction in the amount of milk produced and may affect its quality. It is generally not recommended until the nursing mother has completely stopped breastfeeding her child or for up to 6 months from childbirth.
