Medical Description

Naprosyn Gel 30gm contains naproxen which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as an antipyretic and analgesic in various types of arthritis.

Uses

Naprosyn Gel 30gm uses include getting relief from pain in the following conditions: rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout pain, ankylosing spondylitis, inflammation of the tendons, pain before or during the menstrual cycle.

Contraindications

The medicine is contraindicated in the following conditions: allergic reactions to aspirin, ibuprofen or any other NSAID, active or history of stomach/intestinal ulcers, history of asthma, urticaria, kidney disease.

Side effects

The Naprosyn Gel 30gm side effects are as follows: bruising, headache, skin eruptions, nausea, intestinal bleeding and ulcers, burning or irritation at the application site.

Directions for Use

Naprosyn Gel 30gm should be applied externally to the affected area as directed by the physician.

Storage and disposal

Naprosyn Gel 30gm has to be stored in a cool and dry place away from excessive heat and sunlight.

Dosage

Overdose

The physician should be informed immediately in case of an overdose of Naprosyn Gel 30gm. The symptoms of overdose are as follows: headache, heartburn and epigastric pain, nausea, seizures, drowsiness, prolongation of blood clotting time.

Missed a Dose

The missed dose has to be applied as soon as remembered.

How Does It Work?

Naprosyn Gel 30gm contains naproxen which acts by inhibiting the prostaglandin synthesis (chemicals which cause pain and swelling) and reduces the inflammation and pain in the muscles and joints.

Interactions

Naprosyn Gel 30gm composition is primarily naproxen which may have possible interactions with the following: Zolpidem, aspirin, diphenhydramine, duloxetine, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, cyclobenzaprine, atorvastatin, and pregabalin.
