• Bladder cancer
• Cancer of the neck of the womb (cervix)
• Stomach cancer
• Pancreatic cancer
• Cancer of the food pipe (oesophageal cancer)

• If you have a known severe hypersensitivity or systemic allergic reaction to mitomycin C or any inactive components.
• If you have severe bone marrow suppression, extremely low white blood cell or platelet counts, or an increased bleeding tendency due to other causes.
• If you have severe kidney impairment or underlying blood clotting disorders.
• In Children (safety and efficacy have not been established).

• Low platelets and white blood cells, increasing your risk of infections and bleeding
• Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite
• Hair loss and painful mouth sores (ulcers)
• Severe tiredness, weakness, and feeling unwell
• Painful urination, frequent urge to urinate, or blood in the urine (when given directly into the bladder)

• Skin rash, itching, or redness
• Abnormal kidney test results (increased BUN or creatinine)
• Fever and headaches
• With repeated bladder instillations: narrowing or reduced capacity of the bladder (bladder fibrosis) over time

• Severe blood and kidney damage (HUS): A dangerous condition that causes rapid destruction of red blood cells, low platelets, and kidney failure
• Lung damage: Severe shortness of breath, a dry persistent cough, or lung inflammation
• Severe tissue damage (Extravasation): Deep pain, blistering, or skin destruction if the medicine leaks out of the vein during IV infusion

Other General Warnings

• Have pre-existing kidney disease, bone marrow compromise, or pulmonary disorders.
• Experience painful urination or blood in your urine after intravesical instillation.

• Mitomycin C injection is prepared and administered under the supervision of a qualified physician experienced in cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents.
• Mitomycin C injection is administered intravenously, intra-arterially, or via intravesical instillation as per the chemotherapy protocol and as directed by your oncologist.
• Do not self-administer this medication.

• Store vials in the original package protected from light at controlled room temperature.
• Cautious handling and preparation (use of biological containment cabinets, surgical gloves, and masks)
• Disposal of needles, vials, and unused drugs must adhere strictly to cytotoxic waste guidelines.

• Report any sudden shortness of breath, persistent dry cough, or extreme fatigue immediately.
• Inform your nurse immediately if you feel burning, pain, or swelling at the injection site during IV administration.
• Your urine may temporarily discolor after treatment.

Interactions with other medicines

• Vinca Alkaloids (e.g., Vinblastine): Concurrent use can cause acute respiratory distress and severe bronchospasm. Avoid them unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• Nephrotoxic Drugs: Increase the risk of severe kidney toxicity and Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome.
• Live Vaccines: Your doctor may ask you to avoid them during treatment due to immunosuppression and risk of severe infection.
• Inform your physician about all concurrent prescription, non-prescription, and herbal products.
