Overdose

Overdose from topical application is rare. If the eye drop is ingested, particularly by children, seek medical attention. Systemic toxicity may cause dizziness, gastrointestinal upset, or weakness.

How does this medicine work?

Gatifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and transcription. This rapidly kills susceptible bacteria. Dexamethasone suppresses inflammation by inhibiting inflammatory mediators and immune response pathways, reducing redness, swelling, pain, and light sensitivity.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Minimal systemic interaction when used topically. If using other eye medications, space applications at least 5-10 minutes apart. Avoid concurrent topical corticosteroids unless approved by your doctor.

Interactions with food items

No food interactions occur with topical eye drop application.
