Medical Description

Eliwel 10 mg tablets are used commonly to treat depression and control pain in certain conditions. They contain a chemical called Amitriptyline, which is a tricyclic antidepressant. It works by controlling certain neurotransmitters found in the brain; serotonin and noradrenaline. Its actions are also associated with blocking the pain signals from nerves to our brain, thus reducing pain due to migraine or damaged nerve fibres. Contraindications

  • If you had a history of heart disease or have had a cardiac arrest in the past.
  • If you are allergic to the ingredients.
  • If you have liver disease. People with liver problems should consult a doctor before starting this medication.
  • If you take Monoamine oxidase inhibitors. It is a medication that is used to treat depression. Patients taking these drugs should avoid using Eliwel 10 mg.
  • If you have a history of seizures.
  • If you have high levels of thyroid hormone in your body.
  • If you have Glaucoma. Talk to their doctor before taking this medication, as it may increase the pressure in their eyeballs.

Eliwel 10 mg has a chemical called Amitriptyline, which is categorised as a tricyclic antidepressant. Its mode of action depends upon its ability to prevent the reuptake (reabsorption) of the crucial chemicals in the brain, serotonin and noradrenaline. These chemicals are present at the nerve endings. This action of Amitriptyline is associated with the change of mood and its antidepressant activity, thus improving the patient's lifestyle and helping him lead a normal life.   • Fluoxetin
  • Moxifloxacin
  • Hydroxychloroquine
  • Azithromycin
  • Zolpidem

Interactions with food items

  • No such interactions for Eliwel 10 mg tablets are known yet. However, it is advised to avoid taking this medication with grapefruit juice, liquor or any other form of liquid containing alcohol as they may increase drowsiness and decrease the effectiveness of Eliwel 10 mg tablets.
