Medical Description
Drotin-M tablet is a combination medicine. It is used for the treatment of muscle spasms and pain. It contains drotaverine and mefenamic acid as its main components. Drotaverine is an antispasmodic medicine and mefenamic acid has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Some other medicines containing the same composition are Drotikind M tablet, Drokez M tablet, Dvn Plus tablet and Tavera M tablet. Before starting this tablet, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Spam or cramp occurs as a result of involuntary or uncontrolled contraction of muscles, causing pain and discomfort. Drotaverine acts by inhibiting an enzyme which reduces calcium uptake by the cells, thereby correcting the calcium levels in the body; it reduces the spasms in the smooth muscles. Mefenamic acid inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, which is responsible for pain.
Drotin-M tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. Take it regularly at a fixed time. Do not skip a dose or consume more than that recommended by the doctor. Also, do not abruptly discontinue this medicine without first consulting your doctor.
