Almefkem D Tablet is a combination of two medications - Drotaverine and Mefenamic acid. It is used to treat abdominal pain and cramps. Mefenamic acid is an NSAID which has analgesic, antipyretic and
anti-inflammatory properties, while, Drotaverine is an antispasmodic medicine.

Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
Mefenamic acid hinders the action of prostaglandin synthetase (cyclo-oxygenase). Drotaverine inhibits phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), this enzyme is responsible for the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)....
Directions for Use
Almefkem D Tablet is administered orally. The dosage differs based on the patient. Swallow the entire tablet with a glass of water without crushing or chewing.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Mefenamic acid reduces the antihypertensive effect of ACE inhibitors
- Aspirin combined with Mefenamic acid decreases the protein binding
- Warfarin and Mefenamic acid increase the risk of GI bleeding
- The vasodilatory activities of Isosorbide mononitrate may be increased by Drotaverine
- Efficacy of Drotaverine can be decreased when used with Patent Blue
- The hypotensive activities of Riociguat may be increased by Drotaverine
Storage and disposal
Store at 20 - 25°C. Keep it away from pets and children. Store away from excess moisture and heat, at a cool, dry place
Dosage
Overdose
- Almefkem D Tablet overdose may lead to headache, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, drowssiness.
- Do seek immediate medical attention if you over dose.
Missed a Dose
If you miss a dose of Almefkem D Tablet, ask your physician for a new dose schedule. Do not take double doses.
