Medical Description
Deplatt A 75 Tablet is used to prevent blood clots forming inside arteries after a heart attack, a coronary stent, an acute coronary syndrome or certain strokes. It contains aspirin and clopidogrel, two antiplatelet medicines that act on different pathways.
Aspirin permanently disables the COX-1 enzyme inside platelets, halting production of thromboxane A2, one of the signals that makes them clump. Clopidogrel, once activated by the liver, irreversibly blocks the P2Y12 receptor, through which ADP delivers an entirely separate clumping signal.
Because the two pathways are independent, blocking both suppresses platelet activation far more completely than either alone. This matters most on the metal surface of a newly placed stent, which is highly prone to clotting until the artery lining grows over it.
The same completeness is why bleeding risk is higher, and why this treatment is prescribed for a defined period rather than indefinitely. Never stop it early on your own after a stent.
Take it with or just after food at the same time each day. Seek urgent help for black stools, blood in vomit or urine, or a severe unexplained headache, and ask about pantoprazole rather than omeprazole if you need acid suppression.
Clopitab A capsule, Clopilet A capsule, Clavix As tablet, Clopivas Ap tablet, Ceruvin A capsule, and Preva As tablet are some other medications with the combination of aspirin and clopidogrel as their active ingredients.

Quick Tips
- Deplatt A 75 Tablet blocks two separate platelet pathways, giving stronger protection than a single antiplatelet.
- Never stop this medicine on your own; stopping early after a stent can cause it to clot suddenly.
- It is prescribed for a defined period, usually six to twelve months after a stent, not indefinitely.
- Take it with or just after food, at the same time each day.
- Use a soft toothbrush and an electric shaver, and take care with knives and tools.
- Seek urgent help for black or tarry stools, blood in vomit or urine, or a severe unexplained headache.
- Get checked after any fall or blow to the head, even if you feel completely well.
- Ask your doctor for pantoprazole rather than omeprazole if you need an acid-reducing medicine.
- Avoid ibuprofen and similar painkillers; paracetamol is usually safer.
- Avoid ginkgo, high-dose garlic, ginger and fish oil supplements without medical advice.
- Tell every dentist and surgeon what you take, well before any procedure.
- Carry a card stating that you take dual antiplatelet therapy, in case of an accident.

Interactions
Interactions with other drugs
Interactions with food items
- Take Deplatt A 75 Tablet with or just after food and a full glass of water, which reduces the indigestion aspirin commonly causes.
- Grapefruit juice is best avoided, as it has been shown to interfere with the conversion of clopidogrel into its active form.
- Limit or avoid alcohol. It irritates the stomach lining and, on top of dual antiplatelet therapy, clearly raises the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Be cautious with supplements that affect bleeding. Ginkgo biloba, high-dose garlic, ginger, ginseng, turmeric, fish oil and vitamin E all reduce platelet function further. Culinary amounts in cooking are not a concern.
- Follow a heart-healthy diet with plenty of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and pulses, limited salt, and reduced fried and saturated fat, since the underlying artery disease still needs managing.
