Uses of Carboteen 450 MG
Carboteen Injection is used in the treatment of certain types of lung cancer and ovarian cancer.
Contraindications of Carboteen 450 MG
- If you are allergic to carboplatin or to any of the ingredients of Carboteen Injection.
- If you have had allergic reactions to similar platinum-containing medicines in the past.
- If you have kidney disease.
- If you have fewer blood cells than normal.
- If you have a tumour that bleeds.
- If you plan to receive a yellow fever vaccination or have just received one.

Pregnancy

Mode of Action of Carboteen 450 MG
How Does It Work?
Carboteen Injection interacts with DNA (genetic material) and causes certain changes in the DNA. This results in problems in DNA synthesis leading to anti-cancer effects.

- Carboteen Injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse.
- Do not self-inject this medicine. Follow any aftercare instructions given by the doctor or nurse.
Interactions of Carboteen 450 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way Carboteen Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Particular care should be taken if you are taking medicines that can reduce the number of cells in your blood at the same time as Carboteen Injection.
- Some antibiotics called aminoglycosides, vancomycin, capreomycin and water tablets (diuretics), if taken at the same time as this medicine, may increase the risk of kidney or hearing problems.
- Live or live-attenuated vaccines (for yellow fever vaccine) should not be taken at the same time as Carboteen Injection.
- Caution should be exercised when taking blood-thinning medicines like warfarin and other medicines which decrease the activity of the immune system (ciclosporin, tacrolimus and sirolimus).
- Phenytoin and fosphenytoin (used to treat various types of convulsions and seizures) taken at the same time as this medicine may increase the risk of a seizure.

- Store Carboteen Injection in a cool and dry place. Protect from light. Do not freeze.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Dosage of Carboteen 450 MG
Overdose
Carboteen Injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse and hence, the chances of an overdose are unlikely.
