Allegra-M Tablet
Description
Allegra-M tablet is a prescription anti-allergic medicine commonly used to treat the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy or watery eyes, and throat irritation. It is a combination medication containing montelukast and fexofenadine as active ingredients. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by blocking leukotrienes, chemicals responsible for swelling and inflammation in the airways. Fexofenadine is a modern, non-drowsy antihistamine that blocks the effects of histamine, another chemical that triggers allergic reactions. Together, these medicines provide effective relief from seasonal and year-round allergies.
Other medicines with the same combination of montelukast and fexofenadine include Montair Fx tablet, Telekast F tablet, Montek Fx tablet, Odimont Fx tablet and Glemont F tablet. Although the brand names may differ, their composition and therapeutic effect are generally the same. You should only switch brands after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
Allegra-M tablets should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it at the same time each day helps maintain steady levels in the body for better results. Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own, and complete the full course as advised, even if your symptoms improve earlier.
Some people may experience mild and temporary side effects while taking Allegra-M. These can include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache, skin rash, flu-like symptoms, dizziness, or drowsiness. If these effects persist or become bothersome, consult your doctor promptly. Because this medicine may cause sleepiness or reduce alertness in some individuals, avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or engaging in tasks that require focus until you know how your body responds. It is also best to avoid alcohol while on this medication, as it can increase drowsiness and reduce alertness.
If you have a history of asthma, liver or kidney problems, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before starting Allegra-M. With regular use under medical guidance, Allegra-M provides effective and long-lasting relief from allergy symptoms, improving breathing, sleep quality, and overall daily comfort.
