Medical Description

Allegra-M tablet is an anti-allergic medicine used to treat allergic rhinitis symptoms. It contains two active ingredients: montelukast and fexofenadine. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that works by blocking the production of leukotrienes, chemicals that cause allergic rhinitis symptoms. Fexofenadine is an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of histamine, another chemical that causes allergic symptoms.

A few other tablets with montelukast and fexofenadine as active components are Montair Fx tablet, Telekast F tablet, Montek Fx tablet, Odimont Fx tablet and Glemont F tablet.

Allegra M tablets should be taken as advised by your doctor for the suggested duration. You can take this tablet with or without food, but preferably at the same time every day for better results. While on this medication, you may experience dizziness, drowsiness, and headache. Thus, be cautious while driving and operating the machine.

Common side effects of Allegra-M tablet include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, skin rash, flu-like symptoms, and headaches. These effects usually don't last long and should decrease over time. If you are concerned about any side effects, please contact your doctor immediately. This medication can cause dizziness and drowsiness, so refrain from driving or participating in activities that require mental alertness until you know how it affects you. Also, avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication as it can increase drowsiness.
