Zoptic 2 % Description

Zoptic Eye Drop contain dorzolamide, which is a type of medicine called an ophthalmic anti-glaucoma agent. It is used to treat glaucoma, a group of eye conditions that can damage the optic nerve, pot

entially leading to vision problems. Glaucoma is characterized by increased pressure within the eyes due to impaired secretion or drainage of fluids (aqueous humour) within the eyes. Zoptic Eye Drop are meant for use in the eyes only. You should apply a few drops of the medicine to the affected eye(s). To avoid contamination, do not let the tip of the dropper touch your eye or any other body surface. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lenses before applying Zoptic Eye Drop and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Before using Zoptic Eye Drop, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You should also inform your doctor if you have any other eye problems besides glaucoma, such as eye infections or if you have had eye surgery as a precaution. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not use Zoptic Eye Drop without consulting your doctor. The most common side effects of using Zoptic Eye Drop include burning or stinging of the eyes, sore eyes, blurred vision, a bitter taste, and headaches. If any of these side effects bother you, consult your doctor.

Contraindications of Zoptic 2 %

  • If you are allergic to dorzolamide or any other component of Zoptic Eye Drop.
  • If you have a history of respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • If you have any heart disease or disorder including heart failure.
  • If you have severe kidney failure or disease.

Breast Feeding

Can I use Zoptic Eye Drop while breastfeeding?
Zoptic Eye Drop passes into the breastmilk and may cause harm to the newborn baby. The use of Zoptic Eye Drop is not recommended during breastfeeding. Talk To your doctor if you are a nursing mother.


Can I drive if I have used Zoptic Eye Drop?
Zoptic Eye Drop may cause blurring of vision, which may alter the ability to drive. Hence, avoid driving until all these symptoms are resolved.


Can I consume alcohol with Zoptic Eye Drop?
It is recommended to avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol with Zoptic Eye Drop, as it may increase the side effects. Talk to your doctor if you consume it too often.

Directions for Use of Zoptic 2 %

  • Use Zoptic Eye Drop as instructed by your doctor.
  • Follow directions carefully & do not miss an application.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying.
  • Close your eyes for 2-3 minutes and do not blink or squeeze.
  • Avoid touching your eyes with the dropper. Keep the dropper clean.
  • Wipe any excess liquid from your face with a tissue.
  • Use the exact number of drops recommended.

Storage and disposal of Zoptic 2 %

  • Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
  • Discard the solution if it changes colour, turns cloudy or if it contains particles.

  • As Zoptic Eye Drop is meant for external application, cases of overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
  • If you have applied extra quantities of it, wipe the out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton.

Missed a Dose

If you have missed instilling Zoptic Eye Drop, instil it as soon as possible. Do not over-apply this medicine to compensate for the missed application.
