Medical Description

Ventab Plus is an antidepressant (medicines used to manage depression). Ventab Plus is used to treat major depressive symptoms. It helps to decrease anxiety and increase the person’s energy levels and thus, helps improve the overall mood and behaviour. Depression is a mood disorder characterised by low energy, less interest, and low mood. Other symptoms include sadness, guilt, change in food habits, significant weight loss, suicidal thoughts, etc. Ventab Plus is a combination of two medicines - desvenlafaxine and clonazepam. It takes 2-3 weeks for the medicine to show the effect of antidepressants, and Ventab Plus effectiveness can be evaluated after six weeks of regular intake. Hence, avoid stopping it abruptly without consulting a doctor.

If you have Glaucoma. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are a person with heart disease, you should use the medicine with caution as it contains norepinephrine. Norepinephrine increases heart rate, which increases the workload on the heart. If you are a person with respiratory disease, you should use it with caution and consult a doctor if respiratory symptoms worsen. If you are a person with liver disease should be careful while taking this medicine.

Alcohol should be avoided while taking Ventab Plus. Side effects of this medicine like drowsiness and confusion increase when taken with alcohol.

  • You want to stop taking the meds. Since benzodiazepines have addictive potential, changes in medicine dosage should be done under professional guidance.
  • You experience deterioration of symptoms. Antidepressants like Ventab Plus can take a few days to weeks to show their effect. It may increase suicidal tendencies as well. Hence in case of worsening of symptoms, changes in behaviour, or suicidal thoughts, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
  • You have any kidney disease.
  • You have a history of convulsions in the past.
  • You have any allergic reactions to any other medicine.

  • Ventab Plus should be taken at a dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor.

Ventab Plus is a combination of two medicines - Clonazepam and Desvenlafaxine. Clonazepam belongs to the class of sedatives and hypnotics. It improves gamma-amino-butyric-acid (GABA) levels in the brain. GABA helps to reduce unnecessary activities of the brain cells. It is used to manage irregularities in sleep and decrease anxiety levels. Desvenlafaxine belongs to a class of antidepressants. It acts by increasing two essential chemicals in our brain - serotonin and norepinephrine. Serotonin improves satisfaction, whereas norepinephrine deals with increasing energy levels.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Barbiturates like pentobarbital, phenobarbital, and Secobarbital cause drowsiness and cognitive impairment.
  • Methadone increases sleep duration and may decrease the ability to breathe.
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors like phenelzine and selegiline have an additive effect when taken with Ventab plus tablets and can increase certain side effects like altered consciousness and suicidal tendency.
  • Tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, desipramine, and nortriptyline can have side effects like restlessness, seizures, fever, confusion, and excessive sweating.
  • Anticoagulants(e.g. Warfarin) increase the chances of bleeding
  • Rifampin or St. John’s wort because it decreases the effectiveness of Ventab plus tablet.
  • Ketoconazole, disulfiram, cimetidine, and omeprazole decrease the metabolism of the tablet.
  • Valproic acid decreases the effectiveness of both the components of Ventab plus tablet (clonazepam and desvenlafaxine)
