Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Recold tablets consist of Paracetamol, Chlorpheniramine and Coffee as their three active components. Paracetamol works as an anti-analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (lowers fever). It works by decreasing the production of chemical substances like prostaglandins, responsible for pain and inflammation in the body. It also regulates body temperature by working on specific areas in the brain (hypothalamic heat-regulating centre). Chlorpheniramine is an anti-allergy medication (antihistamine). It blocks H1 receptors, which stops the release of histamine. It is a natural chemical messenger responsible for causing various allergic reactions such as sneezing, watery eyes, redness, swelling, etc. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system (CNS), which results in raised alertness, and sometimes results in restlessness and irritation. It also relaxes smooth muscles and stimulates the contraction of cardiac muscles. Caffeine also increases stomach acid secretion and raises gut movement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Recold tablets are only recommended as a short-term treatment for relieving common cold symptoms. Doctors usually prescribe these medicines for a few days to a week. You can stop using it once the cold or allergy has subsided. However, if you have any concerns about stopping, please consult your doctor.
