Medical Description
Qutipin 25 mg tablet is used in the treatment of bipolar disorder (behavioural changes), schizophrenia (a mental disorder that can cause hallucinations which affect the patient's ability to behave and think) and mania (state of aggression). It contains quetiapine, an antipsychotic medicine. Qutipin 25 mg tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It can be taken with or without food. Some common side effects of Qutipin 25 mg tablet are dizziness, headache, weight gain, sleepiness, but not everybody gets them. These side effects normally go away with time, but if you feel the side effects persist, you should consult your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting Qutipin 25 mg tablet....

Qutipin 25 mg tablet is used to treat certain psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, mania, bipolar disorder.
Contraindications of Qutipin 25 MG
- If you are allergic to quetiapine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you are taking medicines like Abacavir, Zidovudine to treat HIV infection, medicines like fluconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin or clarithromycin to treat infections and nefazodone to treat psychotic illnesses....

Pregnancy

- Qutipin 25 mg tablet should be avoided during pregnancy as it may cause harmful effects on the unborn baby. However, your doctor may prescribe this medicine to you only if it is needed and the advantage overweighs the risk. Babies born to mothers who have taken this medicine during the last trimester may rarely develop symptoms like muscle stiffness, shakiness, sleepiness, breathing difficulty and thus should be monitored carefully. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a child before starting Qutipin 25 mg tablet....
Breast Feeding

- You have problems with your mental health like depression, functioning with your brain
- You had low WBCs in the past (which may or may not have been caused by other medicines).
- You have or have had a condition where you can’t completely empty your bladder (urinary retention).
- You may gain weight while on treatment with this medicine and thus your doctor may monitor your weight regularly.
- You have a condition where you stop breathing for short periods during your normal night sleep (sleep apnoea) and are taking medicines.
- You develop sudden fever, sore throat, muscle stiffness, sweating, unconsciousness, uncontrollable movements, dizziness, fits, pain, constipation or infection after taking this medicine.
- Qutipin 25 mg tablet is not for use in patients below 18 years of age

How Does It Work?
Qutipin 25 mg tablet works by modulating the action of certain chemical messengers in the brain that affect thinking and behaviourial activity.
Directions for Use of Qutipin 25 MG
- Qutipin 25 mg tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
- Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Do not stop taking the tablets even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you.
Interactions of Qutipin 25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Some medicines can affect the way this medicine works, or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
- Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
- Especially if you are taking medicines to treat epilepsy (fits), heart problems, psychiatric illnesses, barbiturates, medicines that may cause constipation
- Qutipin 25 mg tablet must not be used along with medicines used to treat HIV infection like abacavir, zidovudine, medicines used to treat fungal infections like ketoconazole, antibiotics like erythromycin, clarithromycin and medicines used to treat psychiatric illness like nefazodone are contraindicated....
- Concomitant use along with high blood pressure medications may increase the side effects of quetiapine and thus should be used with caution.
- Concomitant use of Qutipin 25 mg tablet along with lithium used to treat mental illness, can cause sleepiness, weight gain, shakiness.
- Other medicines like carbamazepine, phenytoin, thioridazine, sodium valproate should be used with caution.
Interactions with food items
- Do not drink grapefruit juice while you are taking Qutipin 25 mg tablet
Storage and disposal of Qutipin 25 MG
- Store Qutipin 25 mg tablet in a clean and dry place
- Keep them out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not throw away Qutipin 25 mg tablet via wastewater or household waste.
Dosage of Qutipin 25 MG
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose are dizziness, sleepiness, abnormal heart beats. If you experience any of the symptoms or think you have taken too much of Qutipin 25 mg tablet, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital....
Missed a Dose
- Missing a dose of Qutipin 25 mg tablet may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment If you missed any dose of medicine take it as soon as you remember If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one....
