Petril Plus Tablet
Description
Petril Plus Tablet is recommended to treat and maintain depression and anxiety. It is a combination of two medications, clonazepam and escitalopram, which act on the chemical messengers in the brain.
Both the active ingredients enhance the function of certain substances and decrease the activity of other substances to bring about a calming effect and improve the mood by maintaining a healthy mental balance. The medication may be addictive and sudden discontinuation of the treatment may lead to withdrawal symptoms. Your physician will gradually taper and reduce the dose instead of suddenly discontinuing the medication. It is also recommended to resume the previous dose if there are worsening symptoms due to a decrease in the dose and then continue to taper and wean off at a much slower rate. It is essential for family and other people involved in the patient’s care to be vigilant to unusual behavioural changes, worsening symptoms, suicidal behaviour during treatment with antidepressants. Close observation and monitoring are required, especially during the first few months of starting the therapy. If it is observed that the symptoms of depression are worsening or there are any new suicidal thoughts or ideas, or other symptoms that may lead to further worsening of depression or suicidality, then changing the treatment modality and discontinuation of the medication should be considered, especially if the patient did not have any such symptoms at the time of treatment onset.
