Nedol 5 MG Description
Nedol tablet is a prescription medicine mainly used to treat schizophrenia. Nedol tablet belongs to a class of medicines known as typical antipsychotic medicine and contains haloperidol as an active
ingredient. It primarily acts by blocking the action of some chemical messengers which affect a person's way of thinking and behaviour. Schizophrenia is a serious type of psychotic disorder. A person develops delusion (false and firm belief in something that is not true), hallucinations (a person sees or hears unreal things), dysfunctional behaviour, disordered thinking, and in some cases, suicidal thoughts. Nedol tablet is also used in Tourette's syndrome (characterised by repetitive movements or unwanted sounds called tics).

- You are suffering from serious heart problems like QT prolongation (problem of heart rhythm).
- You are suffering from hyperthyroidism (a disorder in which your thyroid gland makes an excess of thyroid hormones).
- You are suffering from glaucoma (an eye disease in which there is excessive fluid production in the eye), as this medicine may further increase the pressure in your eye.
- You are elderly.
- You have dementia, and you are elderly.
- You have breast cancer or a family history of breast cancer.
- You have high prolactin levels in your blood.
- You have a breathing disorder.
- You have any seizure disorder or have a family history of any seizure disorder.
- You have low potassium levels in your blood.
- You have low blood pressure.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Nedol 5 MG
- Take Nedol tablet as advised by the doctor.
- Take medicine as a whole, do not crush or chew it.
- Have it with a glass of water, with or without food.
- Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own.
- Don’t stop taking medicine; consult your doctor.
- Do not take it with other medicines without informing your doctor.
Interactions of Nedol 5 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- The following medicines should be used with caution while you are on Nedol tablet
- Quinidine (an antiarrhythmic medicine) may increase the blood levels of haloperidol and can lead to toxicity.
- Buspirone (used in anxiety disorders) may increase the blood levels of haloperidol and can lead to toxicity.
- Fluoxetine (used in depression, panic disorder, anxiety disorder etc. ) may increase the blood levels of haloperidol and can lead to toxicity.
- Carbamazepine (used in seizure disorders) may decrease the blood levels of haloperidol and can lead to treatment failure.
- Rifampicin (used for the treatment of tuberculosis) decreases the blood levels of haloperidol and can lead to treatment failure.
- Phenobarbital (used in seizure disorders) decreases haloperidol's blood levels and can lead to treatment failure.
Interactions with food items
- There are no specific interactions of Nedol tablet with any food. Watch yourself, your mood, and your behaviour after having any particular food. Try to maintain a logbook of different food items you have and their effect on your mood. Try to avoid spicy and greasy food as this may aggravate nausea and vomiting....
