Medical Description

Nalfy Injection is indicated for managing moderate to severe pain. It has nalbuphine as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of medicine called opioid analgesics or narcotics. It is prescribed for relieving pain when it can not be managed by oral medicines. It can be used to address localised or general pain. Pain occurs due to various chemical substances in the body being released because of an injury. These substances cause the brain to send signals to the body part with the injury to notify that something is wrong. Nalfy Injection helps block these brain signals from reaching the site of injury. This injection is used to reduce discomfort due to pain to rest better. Nalfy Injection is considered a safe medication when taken in the prescribed dosage. Consult your doctor before taking this medication. Some people can experience withdrawal effects with this medication after long-term use. This medicine has the risks of abuse and addiction. Though there are some potential side effects of Nalfy Injection, it's rare to have an allergic reaction to this medicine.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Nalfy Injection consists of nalbuphine. It is an opioid pain reliever. It acts centrally and inhibits the transmission of pain signals from nerves in the brain to the rest of the body. It works by binding certain receptors, which blocks the pain pathways in the nervous system. It increases the production of norepinephrine and serotonin, the chemical messengers responsible for reducing pain and inducing a calming effect in the body. It also mimics the action of endorphins, the chemical substance in the brain and spinal cord that elevates mood and reduces pain.

  • Do not take a Nalfy Injection with antidepressants like linezolid, naltrexone, methylene blue, etc. They can cause increased side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, lack of energy, sudden muscle movements, vomitings, etc.
  • Try not to take Nalfy Injection with antihistamines (allergy medicine), like cetirizine and diphenhydramine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, cold or cough medicine, etc., as they can increase the effect of drowsiness.
