Medical Description
Met XL 25 Tablet is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure, chest pain (angina pectoris), irregular heartbeats, migraine prevention, increased thyroid hormone levels, and heart failure. It contains metoprolol as its active ingredient, which works by relaxing blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and slowing down the heart to conserve its energy, and reducing the oxygen requirement of the heart, helping it to reduce strain on the heart. This improves blood flow, relaxes blood vessels, and reduces strain on the heart, thereby lowering the risk of heart-related complications.
It is important to take Met XL 25 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the correct dose and for the recommended duration. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, especially if you have heart ailments or a tendency to low blood pressure, as this can worsen your condition. If your doctor advises stopping it, the dose will usually be reduced gradually. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.
Some people may experience side effects such as nausea, tiredness, dizziness, or headache. These are usually mild and temporary. However, if these symptoms become severe or do not go away, you should contact your doctor. Rarely, more serious side effects can occur, so it's important to be aware of any unusual changes in your health and to consult a doctor immediately.

- If you are allergic to metoprolol or any of the other ingredients of Met XL 25 tablet.
- If you have a heart condition such as irregular heartbeats, heart block, or uncontrolled heart failure.
- If you have asthma, severe airway tightening (bronchospasm), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or a lung condition.
- If you have low blood pressure or a decreased heart rate.
- If you take medication like verapamil, diltiazem, or disopyramide (heart medicine).

- You have had earlier episodes of severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis

- You have Diabetes and thyrotoxicosis (increased amount of thyroid hormone)
- You have a history of severe wheezing or asthma
- If both your renal arteries are constricted
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
- You have a tumour of the adrenal gland tissue (Pheochromocytoma).
- You have an overactive thyroid (when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroxine).
- You are suffering from a skin disease called psoriasis.
- You have a problem with peripheral circulation, such as in the toes or fingers, or you are suffering from Scleroderma or CREST syndrome. You are suffering from a type of chest pain (Prinzmetal's angina).
- Met XL 25 tablets should not be used in children below 18 years of age.
