Seloken Xl 25mg Tablet

• Seloken XL 25 tablet is used for the treatment of high blood pressure, heart-related chest pain (angina), and irregular heart rhythm.
• It also helps to treat and prevent other conditions such as stroke, heart attack, and migraine.

• If you are allergic to metoprolol or any other ingredient of Seloken XL 25 tablet.
• If you have a heart conduction problem (like AV block) or uncontrolled heart failure.
• If you have sick sinus syndrome (abnormal heart rhythms due to malfunction of sinus node).
• If you have continuous chest pain that occurs when you are at rest, between midnight and early morning (Prinzmetal's angina).
• If you have reduced blood supply to your limbs.
• If you have asthma or a lung disease known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• If you have untreated high blood pressure due to a tumour in the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma).
• If you have a condition called metabolic acidosis (increased acidity in your body).
• If you are using medicines to treat irregular heart rhythms like disopyramide.
• If you have diabetes associated with frequent low blood sugar levels.
• If you have low blood pressure.

Other General Warnings

• You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
• You have asthma.
• You have diabetes.
• You have a tumour of adrenal gland tissue (pheochromocytoma).
• You have an overactive thyroid (a condition when the thyroid gland produces too much of the thyroxine hormone).
• You are suffering from psoriasis.
• You have a circulation-related problem in the toes, arms, legs, or fingers.
• You are suffering from a type of chest pain (Prinzmetal’s angina).
• You recently had a heart attack, chest pain, or heart surgery.

• Seloken XL 25 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water.
• Do not cut, break, or chew the medicine.
• Take it at a fixed time for optimal results.
• Do not consume more than the dose prescribed by your doctor.

• Store Seloken XL 25 tablet in a cool and dry place protected from light and heat.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

How Does It Work?

Interactions with other medicines

• Some medicines can affect the way Seloken XL 25 tablet works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
• Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
• The effect of medications used to treat diabetes such as insulin may be increased with Seloken XL 25 tablet.
• Pain-killer medicines like diclofenac and indomethacin may decrease the effect of Seloken XL 25 tablets.
• Particular care should be taken when using medicines to treat heart failure like digoxin.
• Medicines used to treat heart conditions such as verapamil, diltiazem, and nifedipine can cause decreased heart rate and low blood pressure when used along with this medicine.
• Rifampicin (anti-tubercular) may decrease the effect of Seloken XL 25 tablet, whereas paroxetine, fluoxetine, sertraline (mood elevator), cimetidine (acid-lowering), hydralazine (anti-allergic), lidocaine (anesthetic) may increase the effect of this medicine.
• Concurrent use of hormonal pills such as oestrogen decreases the blood pressure lowering action of this medicine.
• Concurrent use of certain medicines such as aldesleukin (skin cancer), alprostadil (erectile dysfunction), clonazepam, and diazepine (mood and sleep) increases the effect of Seloken XL 25 tablet.
