Loxet 20 mg tablet is used to treat depression, anxiety disorder, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, diabetic nerve pain, and stress urinary incontinence. The active ingredient in Loxet 20 mg tablets is Duloxetine, which works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers, like serotonin and noradrenaline. These are natural substances in the brain that help maintain mental balance and stop the movement of pain signals in the brain.
Depression is a medical health condition that causes constant negative thoughts that affect your everyday life. Neuropathic pain is a condition caused by damage/injury to the nerves. This results in pain, weakness, tingling/burning sensation in the affected area. Anxiety disorder is a mental health disorder characterised by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear that are strong enough to interfere with the affected person’s daily life. Fibromyalgia is characterised by widespread pain and tenderness (sensitivity to touch). Diabetic nerve pain damages the nerves that send signals from the hands and feet. Diabetic neuropathy can cause numbness or tingling in your fingers, toes, hands, and feet. Urinary incontinence is when the affected person leaks urine by accident.
Directions for use of Loxet 20 mg tablets should be strictly followed. The course of treatment should be completed before stopping. The doctor should be informed about the user’s medical history and if they are taking any new medicines - this is to check for any medicine interactions. This medicine should be taken at a fixed time every day so a stable level of medication is maintained in the body. It may be taken at night if it causes sleepiness.

It can cause serious symptoms like coma, serotonin syndrome, seizures, syncope, tachycardia, hypotension, hypertension, and vomiting in case of a Loxet 20 mg tablet overdose.

Contraindications
- Do not take Loxet 20 mg tablets or use caution:
- If you have low blood sodium levels.
- If you have an increased risk of bleeding.
- If you have manic behaviour.
- If you have a form of mania with lower severity of symptoms.
- If you have manic-depression.
- If you have suicidal thoughts.
- If you have been diagnosed with syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) (a disorder with excess antidiuretic hormone)

Directions for Use
- Take Loxet 20 mg tablets exactly as advised by your doctor.
- Do not exceed the dosage, even if you cannot notice the effects of this medicine.
- Take Loxet 20 mg tablets as a whole with a glass of water.
- Do not break or chew this tablet.
- Take Loxet 20 mg tablets at the same time every day so a stable level of the medication is maintained in the body.
- Your doctor might advise you to take Loxet 20 mg tablets at night if they make you sleepy.
Storage and disposal
Store Loxet 20 mg tablets at room temperature in an airtight container, away from the reach of children and pets. Keep Loxet 20 mg tablets away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep your tablets in the packaging until it is time to take them. Do not throw away the medicines with household waste. Dispose of the expired/unused medicine immediately as biomedical waste. Do not use it post the date of expiry stated on the label.
Dosage
Overdose
Loxet 20 mg tablet overdose can lead to coma, serotonin syndrome, seizures, syncope, tachycardia, hypotension, hypertension, and vomiting. Please consult your doctor immediately in case of an overdose.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed a dose of Loxet 20 mg tablet, try to take it as soon as you remember. If you recall the missed dose when it is almost time for the next one, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take both of them together; this can lead to adverse reactions.

Interactions with other medicines
- Loxet 20 mg tablets can interact with many medicines and cause adverse side effects. Taking these medicines with Loxet 20 mg tablets can cause adverse symptoms like extreme drowsiness, bleeding, headaches, or irregular heartbeat.
- Antiplatelet drugs like clopidogrel
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
- Blood thinners like warfarin and aspirin
- Medicines like cimetidine, viloxazine, and certain quinolone
- Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin and enoxacin
- Antiarrhythmic drugs like propafenone, flecainide, and quinidine
- Antipsychotics like thioridazine
- Antidepressants like desipramine and imipramine
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like isocarboxazid, linezolid, metaxalone, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, and tranylcypromine
- Antihistamines like cetirizine and diphenhydramine
- Medicine for sleep or anxiety, like alprazolam, diazepam, and zolpidem
- Muscle relaxants and opioid pain relievers like codeine
- Cough-and-cold medication like Codral, Coldrex, Benadryl
- Antidepressants like SSRIs (fluoxetine and paroxetine), other SNRIs (desvenlafaxine and venlafaxine), and tryptophan
Interactions with food items
- Avoid grapefruit juice when on treatment with Loxet 20 mg tablets, as it can cause dizziness when taken with this medicine.
