Precautions and Warnings of Loxet 20 MG

Pregnancy

Q:
Can I take Loxet 20 mg tablets during pregnancy?
A:
This medicine comes under Category-C medication and does not show major teratogenic effects on the foetus. But it is associated with an increased risk of postpartum haemorrhage and a small risk of cardiac malformations. Discuss your case with the doctor if you conceive during treatment with Loxet 20 mg tablets.

Breast Feeding

Q:
Can I take Loxet 20 mg tablets while breastfeeding?
A:
Yes. A very small amount of this medicine passes into breast milk. Infant exposure to duloxetine in breast milk is less than 1% of the maternal weight-adjusted dose. This suggests that duloxetine can be safely administered to a woman breastfeeding her infant.

Driving

Q:
Can I drive if I have taken Loxet 20 mg tablets?
A:
Some people can develop dizziness or drowsiness after taking this medicine. Do not drive, work on heavy machines, or do anything that requires mental focus with this medicine. Talk to your doctor about your work profile.

Alcohol

Q:
Can I consume alcohol with Loxet 20 mg tablets?
A:
Alcohol consumption is prohibited during Loxet 20 mg tablets treatment as the combined effect can cause more drowsiness and sleepiness.

^

Q: Will excessive consumption of Loxet 20 mg tablets cause any side effects?

A: High doses of Loxet 20 mg tablets are dangerous. You can experience slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, significant weight loss, reduced appetite, sleeping too much or too little.

Q: How long will it take for Loxet 20 mg tablets to start working?

A: You may experience improvement in sleep, energy, and appetite within the first 1-2 weeks of treatment. This is an indication that the medicine is working. It may take about 6-8 weeks for an improvement in depression.

A: Yes. Antidepressants interfere with neurotransmitters, like serotonin or histamine, in the brain, which helps control appetite. Blocking histamine may also boost appetite and result in weight gain.
