Sucrafil O Oral Gel is a combination medicine used in the treatment and prevention of ulcers in the stomach and intestine, as well as for providing quick relief from acidity, post-meal heartburn, and pain caused by acid reflux. It contains two active ingredients – sucralfate and oxetacaine. Sucralfate acts as a protective barrier in the digestive tract by coating ulcer sites, shielding them from further damage caused by stomach acid, alcohol, or irritating medicines such as aspirin. This protective action promotes the natural healing process of ulcers. Oxetacaine, on the other hand, works as a local anaesthetic and acid suppressant. It relieves pain associated with ulcers and gastritis while simultaneously reducing acid secretion by inhibiting gastric enzymes.
The medicine is usually recommended to be taken one hour before meals, as food can reduce its effectiveness. It is available as an oral suspension and should be measured carefully using a proper dosing spoon or cup to ensure accurate intake. It should always be taken as per the doctor’s advice and in the exact dose and duration prescribed. Patients should avoid drinking water or eating immediately after taking the gel, as this may wash away the protective coating and reduce its effectiveness.
Sucrafil O Oral Gel provides symptomatic relief from burning sensation, stomach discomfort, bloating, and pain due to acid reflux. It also helps in the long-term management of ulcers by preventing their recurrence. However, it is not effective against infections, which may sometimes be the underlying cause of gastritis.

- If you have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis, unless your doctor has advised it, as aluminium from sucralfate can build up.

- You vomit blood, or vomit material that looks like coffee grounds.
- You pass black, tarry stools.

Directions for Use
- Take Sucrafil O Oral Gel as directed by your doctor.
- Shake well before use.
- Take it on an empty stomach, at the times your doctor has set in relation to meals.
- Measure the dose with the cap or spoon provided, not a kitchen spoon.
- Do not take other medicines at the same time. Sucralfate can stop them from being absorbed, so leave a gap as your doctor advises.
- Keep taking it for the full course prescribed, even if the pain settles early.
