Medical Description

Omee D Capsule is a prescription medication used to treat conditions related to excessive stomach acid and delayed stomach emptying, such as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and indigestion. GERD is a digestive disorder in which acid from the stomach flows back into the esophagus, leading to symptoms like heartburn, chest discomfort, and acid regurgitation. It contains a combination of omeprazole and domperidone, making it more effective in certain cases where omeprazole alone is not sufficient.

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces acid secretion in the stomach, thereby relieving acid-related symptoms and protecting the stomach lining. Domperidone is a prokinetic agent that helps improve the motility of the stomach and intestines, relieving symptoms such as nausea, bloating, and a feeling of fullness. Together, these two ingredients manage both acid reflux and digestive discomfort.

Omee D Capsule should be taken as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily before meals, for the prescribed duration, typically 4 to 8 weeks. For best results, take the medication at least 30 minutes before eating. Patients should avoid self-medicating and consult their healthcare provider if symptoms persist or worsen. It is also important to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking, especially blood thinners, anti-seizure drugs, or antifungals, as these may interact with Omee D.

While the medicine is generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience mild side effects such as headache, nausea, diarrhoea, or dry mouth. If any unusual or severe reactions occur, seek medical advice as soon as possible. For best results, take this medication at least 30 minutes before meals.

Uses

Omee D Capsule is used to treat GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) in patients not responding to omeprazole alone. It helps in relieving symptoms such as heartburn or acidity.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

  • A proton pump in the stomach is responsible for secreting stomach acid. Omeprazole binds to this proton pump in stomach cells, thus blocking acid secretion.
  • Domperidone increases the motility of the stomach and intestines so that acid does not reflux back into the food pipe.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

  • Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking or might take to avoid potential interactions.
  • Especially if you are taking medicines to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, high/abnormal cholesterol levels, blood thinners, anti-infectives, anti-diabetics, anti-asthmatics, pain killers, immunomodulatory medicines or medicines for the brain-related disorder.

Interactions with food items

Omee D Capsule should be taken as directed by your doctor, before meals, for the prescribed duration. For best results, take the medication at least 30 minutes before eating.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes, both cause an increase in acidity. Smoking also relaxes a valve present between the food pipe and stomach. This leads to stomach acid coming back upwards in the food pipe. This worsens reflux/ GERD disorders.

Take Omee D Capsule as advised by your doctor. You should take this medicine with a glass of water, preferably 30 mins before meal.

Yes, lifestyle changes can significantly improve the effectiveness of Omee D Capsule and help manage acid reflux. You should avoid spicy, oily, and acidic foods, eat smaller meals, and do not lie down immediately after eating, wait at least 2–3 hours. Limit caffeine, alcohol, and smoking, as they can worsen reflux symptoms. Maintaining a healthy weight and elevating the head of your bed while sleeping may also reduce night time acid reflux. These changes, along with your medication, can lead to faster and better relief.

It is usually suitable for short-term use. Long-term use should be done only under medical supervision, as prolonged acid suppression or Omee D use may lead to additional risks.

Omee D Capsule is used to treat acid reflux (GERD) and indigestion caused by delayed stomach emptying. It helps relieve symptoms like heartburn, chest discomfort, nausea, and bloating.

Most people tolerate it well. However, some may experience headache, nausea, diarrhoea, dry mouth, or drowsiness. Rarely, it may cause breast changes or skin rashes. Contact your doctor if any side effects bother you.

Both Omee D capsule and Omez D contain the exact same combination of active ingredients: Omeprazole and Domperidone. The only difference is the brand name and the pharmaceutical company that manufactures them. They work identically to treat acid reflux and GERD.

Omee D capsule contains Omeprazole paired with Domperidone, whereas Pan D contains Pantoprazole combined with Domperidone. Both medications manage acid reflux and improve digestion, but they rely on different proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to reduce stomach acid secretion. Your doctor will prescribe the one that best suits your clinical profile.

Yes. In fact, long-term use of medicines like Omee D capsule can decrease calcium absorption, so doctors often recommend calcium and Vitamin D supplements. However, to ensure proper absorption, it is advisable to maintain a gap of a few hours between taking Omee D capsule and your calcium supplements.

No, Omee D capsule does not contain any anti-histamine ingredients. It is composed of a proton pump inhibitor (Omeprazole) and a prokinetic (Domperidone) strictly meant for gastric and digestive issues, not for treating allergies.

Omee D capsule is primarily formulated for adults. It should never be given to children for stomach aches or reflux unless specifically prescribed by a pediatrician, who will determine the exact safe dosage based on the child's age and body weight.

Omee D capsule is used to manage acidity, while Meftal Spas is typically used to relieve stomach cramps and menstrual pain. Doctors sometimes prescribe Omee D capsule alongside painkillers like Meftal Spas to prevent the acidity and stomach irritation that painkillers can cause.
