Medical Description
Betnovate-C Cream is a prescription medication used to treat various skin conditions, including dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and allergic contact dermatitis. It contains two active ingredients: betamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces redness, swelling, and itching, and clioquinol, which works against bacterial and fungal skin infections. Together, they help soothe irritated skin and prevent infection.
This cream is meant for external use only. Always use Betnovate-C exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and gently rub it in. Do not apply it to large areas of skin, broken skin, or for a duration longer than recommended. Keeping the affected skin clean and avoiding scratching or rubbing will help the medicine work better.
Like all medicines, Betnovate-C cream may cause mild side effects, such as redness, dryness, itching, or a burning sensation at the application site. These usually go away on their own. However, if you notice worsening symptoms, severe irritation, or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling or difficulty breathing, stop using the cream and seek medical advice immediately.
Before starting treatment with Betnovate-C cream, always inform your doctor about your medical history and any medicines you are currently taking, including other creams or herbal remedies. This is important to avoid possible interactions or side effects. Your doctor will also advise you on safe usage if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
For best results, follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and use the cream for the full prescribed duration. Do not share this medicine with others, even if they have similar skin problems. With proper use, Betnovate-C cream can provide effective relief from itching, irritation, and infection associated with common inflammatory skin conditions.
